Ok so I know that the biggest tire I can put on with no lift is a 265/70/16. However, I have 1st gen wheels that stick out 3/4 more. I was wondering if I went with a 255 can I go taller? I want the tallest tires I can put on. Ill be putting on a 2-3 inch lift but not until tax returns. Thanks for any answers:D

There is a few guys running 255/85/16 on a second gen with first gen wheels. Lifted 3 inches tho.

265/75/16 is the biggest, not 265/70/16.

A lift costs less than new tires, so unless you are in desperate need of new tires, buy the lift first. Then you won't have to worry about fitment, and you won't have brand new tires that look too small once you lift.

This. I ran 265/70r16(stock) for about 2 months before I pulled the trigger on my new tires. But I also only went up to 265/75r16, which you can also run with stock suspension. Next go round I think I'm going the 255/85r16 route.
