No regrets here but last night I was talking to my GF that it would've been nice to get a standard transmission, the tough has been constantly in my head now

Go ask them how much a 7 year, 100,000 mile warranty is. Check back in with us once you see how much stock they put in their vehicles holding up.

I had such a bad experience with Chrysler/Jeep I could NEVER go back. I would even consider a Volvo before a Jeep - Jeeps are total rolling POS's.

I just cannot fathom that they have fixed their quality issues enough to warrant a second chance (by me). My wife loves the look of the GC but unless she is going to buy it herself with her own $ she's S.O.L.

We have a fleet of Fords at work including F-350 and 450 chassis. I own Toyota products as a direct result of my exposure to Fords.

we took one in on trade a few weeks ago. I was quite impressed with the drive, fit and finish, and of course the 470hp. not impressed with the fact that the owner lost roughly $15k in 6000 miles.

Again ^^ This... My job requires towing aerospace equipment around the airfield. My equipment weights anywhere from a few hundred pounds to 18k lbs. We have '07-08' powerstrokes and 97-98 Cummins. The fords are constantly in for repairs for trans slipping, and multiple electrical issues. The dodges that are 15 years old hold up like beasts except for a garbage relay they use for the flashers. I can only assume the chevy would simply crumble under the work load we put on them.

    Not a surprise at all.

My buddy refuses to get rid of the Grand Cherokee he's owned for the last few years. I ask him why not get rid of it before it breaks down again - and his response is usually that he just spent $3,000 to get everything fixed. He's a very smart guy, and I think if it wasn't for the total sentimental value this particular Jeep has to him, he would have driven it off a cliff five years ago.

It was a honest mistake to buy my first Jeep. Buying my second one was just ignorance.

I agree with a lot of their numbers coming from fleet vehicles but you have to think about it.... Why would companies buy a ton of POS vehicles if they cost more to keep them running?

Truth is Ford makes a really good product. Sure there will be some that have problems but that is with every mechanical product produced. My 12 tacoma with less than 3K miles need a side air bag replaced, doesn't mean its a piece but it proves that not every manufacture is perfect.

You will see more Fords in a repair shop just for the fact that there are MANY Ford trucks on the road.

Don't get me wrong Ford struggled with the 6.0 and 6.4 dieseld but they had to do something to compete with the current market at hand. They Lost millions repairing these trucks equiped with these motors.

I think Ford is on the right track with their current line up. Their quality has been second to none and they have the most fresh line up compared to other manufactures.

Toyotas are old and proven reliable but to be honest are really outdated. I think Toyota is finally catching on that they are in need of a serious line up refresh and they are SLOWLY coming out with "new" designs. I know most will say "why change something that isn't broken". That can open a whole new can of worms.

Bottom line is you really cannot go wrong with Toyota or Ford. (kind of why they have partnered up on different vehicles in the past and present) Just depends on what you need and are looking for. This is my opinion on the subject.

This is right on. Not only do companies, as well as individuals, keep buying them, but they have been doing so for 35+ years. Some may have problems, but you don't hold on to the #1 title for that many years if your product is grossly unreliable.

OP don't fell bad. Get what you want. I just went and bought a 2005 F150 XLT scab 4x4 with 49,000 miles truck is like brand new (cleaner than my 2006 Tacoma), due to the Tacoma's inadequate towing for my purposes. Kept the Tacoma, but needed a truck with more ass and power to tow my heavy loads. The Tundra just does nothing for me. The F150 is a tow beast. And I'm so done with the Dodges. Sometimes you just need to do what you want and not what everyone else tries to tell you. It's your money..

Bobtails? C'mon now..... a vehicle that almost never goes above 15MPH

The cummins you speak of is like cimpairing it to a 22R 4cylinder motor from toyota.

Our Ford 7.3L bobtails hardly ever give us any problems, no more than the dodges, and I can't think of one person out here that would rather drive the dodge over our ford's.
2007 had the 6.0 not the best but by 07 had a bunch of problems worked out.
2008 all new 6.4L twin turbo with the new EPA standards emmissions BS. Again a whole new story of problems.
Look at the abuse those trucks go through everyday out there on the flightline and the piss poor maintenance they get. I'm surprised AF vehicles last more than 2 years no matter what brand! Unless it's a staff car :D

I hardly ever hear problems with the torque shift tranny from ford.. I heard of a few but man were they abused to hell and back. Mostly Chipped up and lifted were the death of them.

If you don't like it, sell it. I sold my Tundra a couple years ago, went with a car and had to come back to a truck. Cars just are not me. If you want a bigger truck that hauls more, etc. Go get one.

I would walk with a bag on my head before buying a Dodge

Dodge, Jeep, Ram Chrysler resale is a big kick in the dick as the pen touches paper.
