I just installed a Muth mirror kit with heat and indicators and used your write up to do the heated mirror piece. Awesome write up and thanks because it works like a champ.
I really appreciate your efforts with this.

Thanks bgreenley! I will be performing this mod using the Muth mirrors and the 4runner switch...can't wait, tired of wiping my mirrors by hand in fall and winter

Bro and I completed this install over the weekend, we used the heated Muth signal mirrors, 4 runner switch and Wolstein Tech timer/relay. All is good now, but we had some issues with the wiring for the signals and the 4runner switch.

After some digging online, we tracked down the correct wires for the turn signals, you have to use the rear...as we discovered due to DTRLs :) As for the 4 runner switch, my words of advice there are make sure that the terminals are completely seated in the white connector. And when I say completely seated, insert them until you think you sent them home, then push some more! The order of the prongs on the switch are starting at 1 from the bottom. We had a heck of a time confirming this, but we able to testing the resistance per the above and we also found a diagram on AllData.

    Thanks for the guidance bgreenley!

Traded in my 2003 Ram for my 2015 Taco. My ram had where you would turn on defrost and it would automatically turn on the mirrors. Are there any ways to do this to make it the same?

BTW Thanks for write up OP!

I think someone had looked into that possibility on the @Benson X heated mirror thread and determined that the turn knob for different heat locations (defrost, feet etc) was a variable voltage rather than allocating 12v to different wires so it was not going to be a possibility unfortunately. I haven't checked myself but that is what I recall reading.

Breaking my heart :( Wonder if you could trigger on at a certain voltage?

Possibly... I know WolstenTech is capable of some pretty cool stuff with their relays and if there was enough of a difference between those voltages then they might be able to tune a relay to trigger at a specific voltage feed.

That being said if you get into that it might be just as much work to wire it up as going with a standard switch option.

Just running out of switch locations, haha. Don't want another one cluttering up the dash.

    Guys,

Can anyone provide some advice for wiring OEM 4Runner mirrors? I have the pin-outs for the plug, just need tap connections points for rear blinkers and the puddle lights.

For heat elements thought to do separate circuit using that timer/highlander mirror switch scheme provided.

    Thanks!

What exactly do you want advice on? Just where to tap for the puddle lights and mirror turn signals? If so for the dome wire you need one end hooked up to a fused constant 12v source, through somethings like an add a fuse. The other end you need tapped into your dome circuit (assuming you want the puddle lights to mimic your dome lights). This is the most accessible spot to tap the dome wire, although you should test it on your truck first.

    dome wire.jpg
I also attached a instructional file from a pair of towing mirrors that shows what wires to tap to add turn signal functionality to your mirrors if your truck doesn't currently have it.

Are you planning on using the connector that comes with the 4runner mirrors or switching it over to something else? I have a pair of 4runner mirrors I'll be putting on too, probably in a month or so when the weather warms up a bit!

That's it, perfecto! I plan to use the 4Runner mirror plug, connecting to whatever plug exists in my 2013 door (though it looks like the signal wires may need to be plumbed from fuse box).....will upload some pics later for reference ('13 to '15 models). Thanks again, great help and information.
