Hey guys, so my Ac went out last week on my 05 taco, long story short after I got it up on the lift I noticed the rubber piece on the compressors clutch had melted. So whenever the clutch is engaged the compressor shaft is not spinning. Basically I just need a new hub in front of the compressor and can't seem to be able to find one anywhere :( Dealer was the only place that had them and they want $650 for just the clutch... Does anybody know where I can get a new hub/clutch for the compressor?

    Thanks!

It would not be wise to replace the clutch on a compressor that old and run the chance of the compressor going out in a short time. Buy a rebuilt compressor with the clutch assembly and install it. They usually have a good warranty. They are usually about 120.00 and have the system evac. and charged. Total charge probably around 200 dollars. Or do it all yourself and save even more.

Im not sure where you get your prices from, but here the cheapest I can get a compressor is $400 for just the compressor. Dealer wants $1249...

Hello Tony, I was basing my original numbers on a friend who just replaced his but it was on a different make. It looks like when it is a Toyota the price goes up. I found one new with clutch for around 338.00 and rebuilt with clutch for 295.00. You may look further and find a better price as this was a quick search. Sorry about the confusion. Here is the link.

Anyone have experience using AC Compressors from this site (buyautoparts.com)?

I just had my compressor and clutch fail (3,000 kms past my warranty) and the dealer wants $1,857 + tx for parts vs. $395 on this site.

I just want to make sure I am not buying something cheap that is going to cause me more problems down the road.

Never heard of them but dealership = stealership.

They seem legit though from what I see.
