Anyone have pics of a white tacoma with matching topper. My concern is the black plastic bed rails showing. I have a deal on an ARE topper locally but am afraid I won't like the reverse Oreo look.

    Any advice is welcome.

There are plenty of pics here and it depends on the model but I don't think I've seen the rails show with an ARE topper.

I just went through this. From what I found out some of the ARE caps are designed in such a way that they do not have the lip that sits over the bedrail caps, so you can see the black of the rail caps under the shell.

I was in the same boat as you, I did not want the rail caps to be visible. I was originally looking at the ARE caps as they were cheaper but ended up going with a LEER 100R as they have the little lip that covers the rail caps.

    picture for reference:

I will find out tomorrow I have a guy locally who has an ARE on an 06 and no black shows in the pics that he sent. He just bought the truck and has no use for the cap. I think the bed rails are the same from 05 to present, I hope so because it is a steal of a deal

Only thing to be aware of is single cab shells wont fit right on access/double cabs. Something to do with the shape of the rear of the cab.

It's not an ARE but a LEER 100XR, but no bed rail exposed!

This is mine with the Snugtop XV, the side covers the rails and I think the lines look nice, love the Leer as well, but ended up getting the Snugtop.

Well I got it as well as a heck of a deal, but I am not sure I am loving the look. Glad I bought it used and not a new one. Thinking of selling it but will give it a day or so. If I do it will be on this sight first for only what I have into it $400. Here are the pics

I think it looks really nice. Drive with it for a while. I have had a camper shell for 20 years.
Never going back. You can always remove it and store if needed.

    ARE FTW!

I think the biggest thing that bothers me is the color is a hair off but it appears so in a lot of the pics on this site as well. Maybe I am too picky

I vote keep it. I wasn't really a fan of shells till I got one. Now I love it. Again, you can always take it off and at $400 it's a steal!

The color on mine is a tad off too, shell seems to have a bit of yellow in it. Nothing too drastic though.

Build yourself a sleeping platform back there and you have a very comfortable bed.

Anyone else have a leak in the front corners near the bed? Went to a youth free car wash today to check for leaks and found water coming in at the front corners. Looks to be a design flaw as compared to how the side rails are covered by a lip.

Bought mine new and when they installed it they used some kind of putty type stuff in those corners.

It's the fault of the rails... Back rail is not flush with the side rails.
