How does a 2007 headlight get adjusted ?

The headlights are different to each other - pointed at a close wall the right side beam is much lower.

The headlight assemblies seem to be a solidly bolted-in structure. On the back of each one I found a black cap with a inwardly spurred gear-surface 'knob' under it. If I remove the caps/covers and turn these gear/knobs the aim of the headlight does not change.

How can my headlights be adjusted?

And what are these gear things for?

Don't touch that knob. That's why those blacks covers are there. Look further down and you'll see another set of adjuster without the black cover.

Thanks; with your help I found the lower uncovered gear knob adjustment.

But now I have the question: because the lower uncovered gear knob looks exactly like the upper covered knob -

What is the covered gear knob there for? What does it do?

That one should be left/right adjustment. It's covered because it should never be needed after the initial adjustment.

Many vehicles don't even have the left/right adjuster anymore.
