What would cause this? Luckily I've only done one side so I can put back the stock strut assembly but I can't figure this one out.

Are those the lock nuts that came with the new 5100's. Don't look like it from the picture. I did not experience anything like this.

Got the shocks used for a temporary level until I save up for a full lift. Is there different hardware for the 5100's vs stock? I picked up a stock strut assembly locally that another member gave me so I used them as a donor to put the 5100's together so I could just swap out strut assemblies instead of having to do coils and everything when doing the install.

Looking at the pdf on bilstein's website, it looks like the picture shows the small donut that is on the stock shocks that the bottom washer sits against. The 5100's didn't have that. It was a straight shaft and I first put on the stock bottom washer that goes up against the stock rubber bushing on the bottom of the bucket, then the top bushing, washer, and nut. Something is missing.

So explain to me the correct order since I didn't get these new. What I did was cupped washer, top plate (had rubber bushing on the inside already), rubber bushing, washer, nut. The rubber on the bottom side of the top plate was stuck to the plate. Is that normal or is it just because it was old and stuck to the plate.

Yes that's normal after it settles in but you have to have the washers and rubber for the bottom side you probley could go to autozone or o Reilly's and get them

Here's what I have. Notice the bottom rubber bushing is already in the top plate. There's some sort of spacer that goes on the shaft first. I don't have that. Is that the problem?

Rubber should be touching both sides of the top plate. Washers should be on the bottom of the lower bushing, and on top of the upper bushing.

I think I see what you are saying now. There is a small collar at the top of the shaft where the first washer goes, and you are missing that. I think thats just a collar for the dust boot to sit on. I'm not sure why it wouldnt have been included.

Look at the pictures and my description above. Both rubber bushings are in place.

However, I think I found my problem, hopefully. I forgot to grab the plastic shaft covers from the local member I got them from. Based on the thread linked below, the spacer I need is probably on the covers. He's checking for me and I'm just waiting on a reply.

Hopefully they are with the dust covers. Let us know how it goes. Good luck.

Picked up the dust covers and they did have the spacers in them. Reinstalled everything and everything works fine. I used sport coils on my OR and I ended up with 1/2" difference in the front so I'll pick up a 1/4" spacer and it should level things out.

I will say that the sport coils set at 1.75" are still smoother than the stock OR coils. Wasn't expecting that.
