Rear differential fluid recommendations?

    What's everyone like to use? I saw I was suppose to change it at 30k, unfortunately I didn't know and have approximately 44k, so any opinions/advice would be appreciated. Gonna change it tomorrow. I have a 2011 Trd sport 2wd.

    I recently used Valvoline durablend synthetic blend gear oil. 80w-90 I believe. A 140 may or may not have ended up in the mix. Nothing has caught fire or exploded.

    My only suggestion is dont go synthectic in your diffs liquid dino is the way to go

    Thanks for the replies guys, do I need to add a LS Diff Additive on my Trd sport? Also where can I pick up some new fill/drain gaskets. And what are the reasons to use or not use synthetic?

    Why not? Many of us have run synthetic them for years with no issue.

    You don't have mechanical LSD, so you don't need an additive.

    You guys are awesome, so what about the gaskets, where can I pick some new ones? Or should I just reuse the old ones?

    Cut & broke off some stuff.
    For the metal washers, dealer parts guy can look it up. They're cheap. Really though, should be ok to reuse what's on there already.

    I could easily agree with all synthetics. Although, I am guilty and will keep running it. I suspect it just makes me feel good.
    I was curious of why poster was adamant or seemingly against synthetic in the rear diff.

    I run synthetic in the engine oil and I'm not sure if MT90 is synthetic or not but I run that in my transmission and t-case. It gives me that wharm feeling inside paying more for mobile 1 engine oil I guess haha. For the diff fluids I use lucas dino oil as recommended by ECGS where I bought the diffs.

    I wouldn't say I am against it but figured as much money as I waste I need to save where I can so a few bucks a quart for dino fluid is a start lol. Not sure why Ghost848 is against synthetic, I'd be interested to hear the response as well.

    I run synthetic in everything because I want too. Also run Shell V Power in the fuel since that's the only fuel I can find without ethanol in it. Still running fine. Truck hasn't blown up yet.

    A retired racer at work gave me eleven qts. of Redline, so that what i used. If it was Royal Purple or Valoline etc, that's what i would of used.

    Yep, a die hard Mobil One fan myself and have run it in all of my off road vehicles for many years, and hard like you.

    Most synthetics have a tendancy to turn into "water" and loose there lubricating properties vs dino is a more raw fluid and doesnt turn into water as it gets hotter. I used to run synthetic but after research and comparison of fluids beside eachother dino is more slick. My experiences i guess...

    Unless you have an odd station or geographic area , Shell V-Power is 10% Ethanol , at least around here and even in the 93 octane flavor .
