Remove/Replace Door Handles on Reg. & Access Cabs

Nice mod, I think I will give this a shot someday. Wonder how hard it is to remove rear inside panel on D/C?

I like the painted look.

 

I know I'm a little late to the party, but how do you properly remove the handle for the rear door of a double cab? I am thinking of doing this mod, but don't want to go pulling at the panels the wrong way and break something.

Here goes nothing! haha just got door handles in today. Thought I had just ordered covers, when in actuality I ordered all new handles. Thread is very helpful. I hope I can follow the directions, I am very good at making easy mac so somewhat similar.

 

Front handles were super easy, however any help with the back?

 

I think you will need to remove the rear door panels

One question though, if you already had a sport why didn't you already have color matched handles?

 

So got my handles in, will try a write up with pictures for the Double cab exterior door handles swap.

I did mine tonight. Thanks for the great info. I didn't have a #30 torx, but found that a #4 Allen wrench also works.

 

Nice-n-simple write-up Did you know you can buy color matched mirror covers as well?

 

I don't use my remote to get into my locked truck. In fact, I don't know where it is at. I hate the fact that the passenger side of the truck does not have a key hole like the older cars did.

Is there any way I could use a driver's side handle with key hole and replace the passenger one with it?

Yes, that will involve getting the tumbler to work with your key.

The set I received did not have a hole for the passenger door lock cylinder so I just removed the cylinder and everything seems to be working fine without it.

Interesting... I could not find the 2014 parts, so I ordered the 2013 parts. I should have looked at my truck before doing so. My 2014 AC has locks on both sides.

I had to get the parts guy on the phone and ended up ordering another driver side lock covers. Hopefully, I will find out tomorrow if the drivers side is reversible to fit on the passenger side. It looks reversible and there is no passenger door part number, so I think I am good.

Will report back after the install. Just need the part to get here...
