I have seen that too, I wonder if they changed it at one point. I have seen some of them with them mounted on the same way mine are right now though, so it's 50/50.

If you think about it the resi is behind the actual shock itself. Not only that, in order to mount it the other way around I would have to use some kind of adapter for both the top and the bottom of the shocks to make it work. It just wouldn't make sense to do that.

It's gonna hurt when you back up into something on the trail. And I didn't mean modifying this just meant that's its odd they engineered it that way.

I may eventually actually get a braided hose fitting for them and mount them remotely elsewhere because I agree with you, I am not liking the way they are affixed to the actual shock. What the hell is the point of "remote reservoir" if you can't even move them around and place them to your liking?

    Yes, I sold my '13 Taco. :'(
Sold the TRD catback to a friend, and decided to do a little something different.... :D

I got the front pipe of a URD Mk2 3" catback and had my muffler guy create a custom full 3" turndown exhaust dumping right before the rear axle.

Being that this exhaust would be a full 3" to turndown, I opted for the biggest canister I could fit----chose a Magnaflow #12579. Canister is 5" thick, 11" wide, 22" long. Center inlet/center outlet. I had him put a 4" turndown to keep the tone as deep as possible

Freaking LOVE how this thing sounds. Very little drone---not anymore than the TRD Catback. It's louder than the TRD Catback but only in the way that its a lot more deep and throaty. At WOT, it sounds beefy! Best part, it's only loud when I want it to be loud. At idle, it's actually quieter than the TRD catback.

Thanks to a hit n run while parked at a local lake I had to claim some damage on my bumper and back left corner panel. Craftsman collision in langley hooked me up with the painted to match over the chrome. Made the 300$ deductible no biggy. I was tempted to pay the 700$ for the painted bumper shortly after purchasing the truck. They also knocked out another ugly dent in my side panel for free. Great service, highly recommended.

Off-road warehouse showed them as a remote reservoir configuration. Non piggyback. I would like to know more of what you mean about mounting them the other way. I'm more of a visual person. Do you have any pictures of what you mean out of curiosity?

One more thing. Even if I was to spread the lower mount (I read it a couple more times and I think I figured it out) what would be the purpose in spreading the lower mount on the frame for?

Why the hell are my shocks not like that. Needless to say I am a little irritated at this situation right now.

I see what you mean by the picture, but if you don't mind me asking, what is the point behind opening up the lower bracket like that?

I was actually able to mount them on perfectly fine without any issues whatsoever. The only thing I had to do was muscle them and then once I got them on the mount, or at least resting enough, I took a small flat tip screwdriver and just finished pushing them in no problem. I did a couple searches on running the new version of the fox shocks upside down since they come this way and it turns out that they should be fine due to the fact they are so close to the tires.

    http://www.tundratalk.net/forums/tu...ar-shocks-reservoirs-mounted-upside-down.html

That was found on this link on the forum:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/72970-rear-shocks.html

Pretty much gave me some good assurance on how it's mounted will be ultimately ok.

For the record, they are SOLID on the highway and only perform better as I turn up the heat on em. :D

Picked up my new (used) All Pro bumper for a great deal from AirTime604. I would definitely +1 him but it all went down through PM.

Tube steps, bull bar and KC Hilites, trifold bed cover, variety of shifter knobs, comparing LED strip options, lift possibilities (prob 2 inch), and exhaust mods to tune growling on low end...
for us clueless types with respect to exhaust styles/sizing for tuning sound/tone at different speeds, where the heck do you start with learning those details? would i just start with talking with someone like catback directly, for example?

    what does "WOT" mean?
