Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
i used my 2012 tacoma to pull about 5 small trees out of my yard, i had one that was pretty big with the power lines running through it and i didnt want to have a repeat of this spring where one that overgrew fell and damaged my house and power lines leaving me sweating and bored for 3 days...

so i strapped this tree (split base trunk with 2 5-6 in diameter trunks) with a 6 inch stretchy strap and gave it a few good tugs.. nothing

so i ran a little harder.. nothing. well its a 2012 lets not pull the frame out jerking it..

so i grabbed the 06 4runner, chained it to the 2012 tacoma and in perfect harmony with the other driver(my gf)... (take slack out of the chain with 4runner while on the breaks in the tacoma.. both autos so super easy, then punch it for the few feet of slack in the snap strap and ride it out. tree has to come out now right?

wrong.. strap dragged 4runner and tacoma back as it shrunk back up tree dropped some leaves and laughed at me...

ok, last ditch effort im going to have some fun!

im not letting this tree get the best of me so i

GO TO THE DRIVEWAY FIRE UP THE 81 YOTA, GO TO THE TRAILER GRAB THE LONGEST HEAVYIES CHAINS I HAVE, A BIG CLEVIS AND DO THIS THE STUPID STRENGTH WAY. to be honest at this point i fully expected bruises from the seatbelt and a broken 81...

BUT to my suprise 32 years old, burns 2 quarts of oil in a day at the trails, and leaks another. barely a truck left thanks to rust and what do you think happened?

hit the end of the chain with the hold my beer and watch this kinda grin(no i wasnt actually drinking) and out of the ground about 3/4 of the tree came, leaving nothing but a little root/partial stump that we pulled out by hand. broke my class 3 hitch/wheeling bumper combo off one side of the frame and burried the chain in the tree. but it was one of those onlookers had to pause for a second because theres no way that just happened moments. and that poor truck just keeps going...

I LOVE my tacoma, but they can never replace the fun of the old mini truck toyota pickup... dont worry im not destroying a nice getting rare old truck i resqued it from the crusher in 2008 and i feed it parts every time i break it, which is not nearly as often as it should break! i daily drove it for over a year untill i bought my 2008 and then it became a play toy.. there was nothing on it good enough to restore but there was nothing about it i felt was bad enough to discard either!

    faster. yes
    safer. deffinately
    easier. thats a yes too
:eek:fun:eek: factor... no contest! whats really important anyway? lol

at least i had enough sense to use a long enough setup keeping the tree off my truck :) that would have made of the only unbroken glass on my beloved 81... the sunroof... picking little squares of safety glass out of my shirt for a week (yes i took my monthly shower) ill pass

    debadged, mostly.
Not exactly today but in the last 7 days...Ive added the color matched door handles, Received a "free" tacoma bed mat from a buddy at the dlrship. Then added a rear leaf spring and bilstein 5100's and set em at 1.75. Then added nfab bars, clayed the whole thing then polished it and just a few hours ago I added jumpers led interior light kit and 50w led fogs and those jokers are bright! Lastly took that sweet little truck to the gun show in savannah and added a eotech g33 sts magnifier to my rifle... "feelin good morty" !

Thanks to Wheelers for great service and jumpers for great and "FAST" service as well as all the how too's on this sight. Last year i couldnt change a spark plug now im installing door handles and suspensions! who'da thunk it! :D

Fixed the gap after adding the 1' body lift with some weather stripping from Home Depot and some gorilla glue. Turned out pretty good if I say so myself.null_zps74f97960_a1e52db65d25909750b1abad0dece04f13710db3.jpg

looks good, if you want to conceal it a little bit more the 30 inch bars fit perfect on the inner aluminum bumper and my rigid is just the right hieght on the 13 to match the opening, i never mounted it on my 2008 but if memory serves me right a small trim on the bumper gap and it would also line up great. keeps the prying eyes down too.. either way great job! and looks great!

ill post a pic of mine and of why i chose to mount it farther back (my 2008) the pics not the one where the front ate it but almost identical circumstances.

on a side note, how do YOU like those tires? i have them on the other family vehicle (06 4runner) 285/65/17 and they are ok on the road but back to back with the stock (bfg rugged trails) on my 2013 in the same spot in the muck i got hopelessly stuck, and the stockers still had just enough bite to get me out. but on some hardpack and dirt trails those worked great and the rugged trails slid all over.. not trying to hate in any way just curious how others have faired with the nitto's

they were both on my tacoma when i comapared btw

and id love to figure out a way to compare the rigid ($999) to the okled ($?) but i dont have any good ideas for that one.

Really over the course of the last two weeks. I've been working on my dual battery install...complete with isolator, breaker, and fuse block. The fact that I ride my FJR to work everyday allowed me to have the truck INOP for a few days here and there during the process. I gotta give props to a few TW members for their informative threads...without them...I probably wouldn't have had the balls to do this. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience...and empowering those of us less electronically inclined to jump into your world.

It started out VERY frustrating...but I finally got proficient at what was required. I wanted it to look good...and I am a Type A Perfectionist...a terrible combination of character flaws. My cursing diminished with time and I began to enjoy the project as things started working out. I'm more than pleased with the way it came out. All I have left to do is hook up my driving lights and LED lightbar (that is currently a rats nest at the firewall). I hooked up all my Flippac lights and ran more lines for accessory ports in the back. Finally, I have an ARB on-board air compressor to tie into the fuse box.

Very nice! Clean install. You did a great job "dressing" the wiring. A lot of "pros" don't do such nice work...

first off i LOVE the giant shiners on your pic.. i had a set of big lights i think 8 inch (brainfart) on a 4runner years ago. the light bars are great but they dont win hands down. flood out and even light well but cant reach the distance the same or look as cool coming through the woods or across an open field. who doesnt like a little close encounter action? the spot they win is durability and because they are so low draw. I used to have 6 kc daylighters on a toyota and they look cooler from a distance :) in iraq i had 14, a mixture of generic spot lights and flood lights and 6x9 inch kc daylighter 55watt HID 24 volters those things were way bright but the cost is insane! $600 a pop and they have ballast and bulbs burn out all the time.

what does the okled cost and maybe ill give it a shot, but if its near what the rigid cost i wont be able to afford it anytime soon.. i think i read a review on the okled vs cree/ebay lights and they are more pocket book friendly.. but comparable. and i saw a jeeper post with a 50" bar i think they said was okled brand
