Me thinks I smell a troll. Second post? no profile to speak of? 2500kms? Time to notify "Dog the Troll Hunter"

Only follow up with dealer name and location of repairs completed and cause of issue might solve this mystery.

No it's not. Go over to Club Frontier and look at what THEY'RE complaining about.

I find all these recent threads of "too many problems with Tacos!" hilarious. Visit a Nissan or Ford or Chebby forum, and almost ALL the threads are complaints or problems. This place is mostly other topics, with the occasional problem thread sprinkled in. It's really eye-opening.

Another way which is the same but you don't have to deal with decimal points is to just multiply by 6 and drop the last number.

Example, 60 km multiply by 6 is 360. Drop the zero and you have 36 miles. Not exact (exact is 37.28) but close enough to figure out your speed while driving a car in Europe or to figure out in miles how far that next town is.

I'm simply sharing with you an experience that's happening with my Tacoma. Believe me, I wouldn't have taken the time to a fabricate bullshit tale like this if it's not true. I'm a fanatical Toyota advocate and wouldn't pay to drive anything else.

The dealer has been very good, although I have not had much to do with them since I brought it in. They told me it would be ready by Tuesday at the latest and they're going to check out the glass as well.

Until then, I'm going to continue driving the jellybean loaner chick magnet Yaris, and enjoy the 80mpg or whatever the hell it's getting.

    I really miss my Tacoma.

hmm... my cheby forum topics are primarily about lifts, tires, and off-topic BS'ing with an occasional issue thread popping up (sound familiar at all?) In fact, if I compared the two, I would say that TW and the Cheby club are almost identical in content...

Just a little food for thought...

Toyota's are MAN made = prone to failure. I mean that in the sense of anything man made WILL fail wether its brand new or 50 years old. Sucks that it happened so soon for you man.

Got the truck back last night. They put a new tranny in, and off I went. They said the glass was rock chipped so I lose there. They didn't say anything more, just gave me the key and said bye.

So I guess thats that! I had to pay about 25$ in fuel for my rental.

Here are the before and after pics.

Nomad, Thanks for letting us know. Nice truck! It looks like they washed it for you.

That's too bad you had to deal with the headache of the faulty transmission and the rental and all that. But it is good that they took care of you. May your taco be trouble free from here on out!

If you haven't already checked out the free/cheap mods thread, there are lots of fun things you can do to your truck if you have the time and desire.

    All the best,

    -Coke

There have been instances of Tacomas coming from the factory with too little AT fluid. I wonder if this might have been a factor in the failure? I guess we'll never know. Mine was 1/2 quart low when I changed mine out, which seems common from those who have changed their own and measured before/after volumes.

They said it came from the factory that way; just a small amount of an "oily water" substance.

I wonder what the odds were of me getting that transmission. I can't win the lottery but I get the one with the epic failure of a rear end...

Actually, I had to wash it, I thought they woulda done it for me, but it's the first thing I did when I got it back.

Also, I do notice a very different feel in this six speed, more tight, soild and seems more precise. Not that I felt the other was problematic, this one just responds sharper.
    Wish me luck!!

Sorry to be off topic slightly, but aren't 4x4 supposed to be transported by rollback? Glad all is well with truck.
