Dealership says 5W-30 Mobile 1???

So I was talking to a guy in the service department a couple of days ago. Told him I wanted to switch over to Mobile 1 5W-30 on my 2013 at about a 1000-1500 miles. I asked him if I could bring my own oil and filter and he said that would not be a problem. But he also said that their synthetic was Mobile 1 5W-30 straight out of the truck into their tanks. He said he couldn't confirm it for sure but that is what the people at mobile 1 told him. Can anyone else comfirm this? He aslo said the OEM filter was better than the mobile 1 filter. Don't know what to think about that? Any help would be greatly appreaciated!

Thanks

I use Mobil 1 5w30 with OEM filter. Works good.

He's right about the filter, Toyota OEM oil filters are actually good filters. I use Mobil 1 and Toyota filters for my truck. Not sure about his oil claim. Who knows what the dealerships get in stock as their synthetic oil.

Just change it yourself with Mobil-1. That way you know for sure. It's super easy on our trucks! And, there is a great write up if you need more info.

use OEM filter and the mobile 1.

Thinking about just bringing my own oil just as precaution. I hate to spend the extra $ but I just want to be sure.

Mobile 1 is a great oil. However, if you want the true 100% synthetic, you need to buy their extended performance.

That's what my service guy at my dealer told me: 5w-30 Mobil 1.

Where in TX are you?

So would you still change the extended at 5000 miles? Anyone else have input on this?

No...
Just stick with the regular Mobile 1 5w30. It's a great oil and has excellent protective properties. Change every 5K. It's cheap...

IMO, and this is my opinion. If you're going to drop $$ on a true synthetic; buy Amsoil 5w30.

I've read on here that a lot of people use Amsoil and Redline I think it was? Peeks my interest. Not familiar with either but if superior I would sure like to try it.

So no one knows if the dealership actually uses mobile 1?

I believe post #10 said that - but no one outside of the dealership really knows. Even if they don't, then you can do it yourself as suggested earlier on here...
