This is my first post on this site and would like to say hello to everyone. I am a technician for the US Army and have a 05 2nd genTaco. I have made many mods to my truck, many of which can not be seen from this photo. There is one pediatric depends wearing member here that drives by my house and takes photos of my truck without permission and post them on this site, but that's another story. I recently saw photos of the 2004 Toyota FTX concept truck and just loved the side mirrors on this vehicle. I tried to find information on them, but could not. The only other vehicle that had similar mirrors was the FJ Cruise. I did some research and found I could mate these mirrors to my truck with a little mechanical and electronic modification. I was able to mount one in about 2 hours without electrical connections. I think they look better on a Taco than a Cruiser! I would like for everyone to take a look and tell me what you think. As far as I know this is the first. One member asked about it, but that was it. So with that said take a look and let me know.

Welcome, and I like it think the lines on the mirror are similar to the fender lines and it fits well. Are the lights/turn signals functional on the mirror?

I don't know that it would look right on a 1st gen though, think it is too squared for those.

Not that I don't respect the ability it took to make the mod happen. Good job on that.

I like it, but I'm not 100% sold.

Think it would definitely look good on a '12 taco though with the new front end.

How did you end up with FJ mirrors?

    And welcome

I personally don't care for them on a taco. What do you do about the hole in your door from your old mirror? Thanks for jumping in and doing the mod. What brand of tires are you running? Nitto's?

    LANDSHARK,

Nice Mod... I like them. I always disliked the little bittey mickey mouse mirrors that my tacoma had. On a truck I prefer the vertical mirrors with a built in blind spot lens.
Good Job. I would consider following suit if I still owned my tacoma.. LOL

I have started the electrical conversion for mirror motor control and turn signal, I will have to add one wire for signal.

Lots of FJ direct replacement mirrors on Ebay for around $60-$300. These were $65 ea. OEM are the most expense around $350 ea Crazy!
