hey guys, just replaced my 09 double cab with a 98 sr5 4runner. Anything in particular i should look for? It runs great but does make a slight whining/humming noise at 30+mph. I thought it may be the trans but when i shift from drive to nuetral it doesnt change at all. I know for sure the tires are cupping and thought this might be it, thoughts?

Got it inspected today, humming noise is a rear differential bearing, anyone have any experience with this? Toyota tech said they generally replace the entire assembly with a junk yard replacement, he said drive it like that until it gets to loud lol. Needs shocks, valve cover gaskets and front brake hoses, not too bad for 200k!

Join up over at T4r.org if you haven't already. Here's a permalink to a post that might help you, like you said already finding a junkyard replacement and getting it installed: Good luck!

My valve cover gaskets were leaking so i just snugged down the bolts, they were very loose. Oil leak stopped for me.

I replaced the bearings andraces in the centersection of the rear on my 01 4runner. It's not too bad and I think I had around 300 in parts including the pinion bearing.

I actually just bought a 1999 4Runner last week. (Didn't sell my Tacoma though, now I have 2 trucks!) it only has 127,000 miles, looks and runs like brand new! Only thing is the windshield wiper indicator light won't go off, even with the wiper fluid tank being full.
