After much debate & endless drivel of several sales people I am considering becoming a member of the 4Runner alumni. I've spent a few months, taking my time reviewing each vehicle in this segment I would consider owning & decided if I buy one, a 4Runner, the red headed step child brother of my current Tacoma will be the unit selected...I think.

At first I really hated the look if it, especially from the front. I'm not a huge fan of its look now but, it is growing on me. My needs in a DD have evolved over time and the dry, controlled cubic footage of a 4Runner is more valuable to me than the space provided by the open bed of my DCSB. If needed I'll simply hook a trailer on and roll.

In any case, I am very pleased with the interior of the 4Runner. It has many features I'd wished for on my current Tacoma. I'm leaning strongly towards a 2014 4Runner 4x4 Limited in Nautical Blue with Black interior. I'll skip the 3rd row & running board option and only add tinting & all weather floor mats. The dealer I've selected to do business with is currently looking for suitable option...most of which include things I couldn't care less about.

So, why am I posting? I've read through much of the threads here but wanted an open, unrestricted place for people to add comment. I'm looking for things like "don't buy it because" or "I paid $X" or "watch out for" to whatever anyone wants to throw out there. Right now, I'm still in the open consideration phase and want to tap the thoughts of other owners.

I will of course post pictures of the new ride as I wave goodby to my old and so far most loved vehicle should I make the purchase.

If trading vehicles, make the dealer give you a price on your truck and the new 4runner separately. Don't let them do all the math for you. Good luck!

    Thanks Eric.

It's not a done deal. I really like it after having driven it regardless of what Consumer Reports has to say about the 4Runner. That said, I'm gonna sleep on it a day or two.

no problem with joining the dark side. Im also thinking about getting rid of my Tacoma for a 14' 4runner trail edition.

I loved my Tacoma, but it is all about your needs. The 4Runner suits my needs better at this time and it is a great ride. Now both Tacomas are gone and we have three 4Runners in the family (07, 08, 11).

I came damn close but, got pulled off the job and moved to the one that got dinged, T/R R&R. No fluids is a good thing (MD11, Pratt)! The cats that took over the roll actuator actually ended up having to shower and one of them got his contacts melted while they were in his eyes. No long lasting issue but, still shitty. I hate Skydrol.

black interior is a pita to keep "clean looking" it shows everything. My cloth seats in my 10 tundra made me sell the damn thing over it along with the black exterior. never again black exterior or interior

I didn't like the look of the 4Runner when it came out, but it's grown on me. Plus with mods it just looks awesome! I love the interior, it just a nice vehicle. If I didn't need a truck I would probably buy a 4Runner.

There were only 3 4runner llimited used or new in the state when I bought mine :( the interior is what sold me to buy new.
Scored a used set of weathertechs on t4r for $125! Including the cargo mat! Plenty of good deals over there

    Thanks guys.

I'm pretty pumped about it. I got it today and already plated it and swapped over the insurance. Couldn't work in the tinting because of the ULTRA shitty weather in the area and my all weather matts weren't in stock but will be tomorrow (except I'm outta state from tomorrow am until Wednsday PM...which I about cancelled because I'm so pumped about getting that stuff done too).

At first I was after the white peril with the redwood interior but , they are far and few between in my area. In addition, a guy at work has one (we live in different Toyota regions).

I carry my pups with me on a regular basis and that's why I didn't want black. It also get blazing hot here and I drive on sand, dirt, mud & gravel all the time so I know this color combo, though I dig it right now, is going to suck to maintain.

The JBL is sweet. I had to rip out some old school 50, in da club, flow rida, hair of the dog and some Yes, 90125. Ya weird mix but damn it sounds good even compared to my pretty nice home system.
