Pioneer AVH 8400bh

Ok so I have installed my unit and if anyone knows for a fact that the relay bypass want work please let me know because my relay bypass is not working and I can't get a DVD to play at all. Do I have to switch control this?? Also, who knows how to splice into the rear view mirror backup camera for it to work with this device as well? Your pics of the install or video would be awesome!!

I know there are a few who have it in their trucks but I think a radio shop did it.

I have the 8400 and the bypass from the first link right above me is the one I used and it works.

 

I have a similar unit, easiest thing to do for the bypass is put a three way toggle on the ground.

 

Thanks for the replies. I just tested the black to the green and the DVD works and am going with the toggle switch tomorrow as for this unit the relay does not work. I tried that and failed. I looked at that the other one on Amazon as well and dont have the patience to wait on it to get here, but thanks for that option as well About to read the review on the rear view mirror cam

 

So now my air bag light is on and ac want come on!! What the hell??? Also, I ran the reverse wire purple from the unit to the red wire that is paired with the red and white wire connector. I ran the RCA plug with the two wire to the connector w/ 4 wires in it and connected is as you all told me. WHY in the world would my airbag light and ac not work now???

 

Oh yeah and it want come out of PARK???? and turn signals arent working

 

I blew IGN1 fuse. Anyone know why that fuse would have blown?

 

My understanding on the newest Pioneer units is that they require some kind of double-pulse relay to fake it out. The single relay solution and aftermarket single relay units do not work. You need a double-pulse unit or, as you've found, a switch.

 

That's correct. Ok so when I have my reverse(purple) wire from unit connected to the red wire(red/white connector) as well as my RCA shielded wire and center wire connected to the other connector the red and black wire(4 wires total). The camera will come on when I turn it on but when in reverse it only comes on to the mirror not both the HU and mirror when in reverse. Any thoughts why when shifting to reverse it want come on as the mirror does??

 

That walkthru I linked shows the Purple Headunit wire going to a connector with a Red/Yellow wire, not Red/White as you just said. I would make sure you have the actual Reverse Signal Trigger wire that is shown in Post #6 of that walk-thru. Then again Post #16 says he has a 2010 and the wiring connectors look different - so maybe the reverse signal trigger wire is located elsewhere in a '10

 

Also, according to the 8400 manual, the wire you should be connecting to the Tacoma Reverse Signal Trigger wire is Violet/White

 

The one from the headunit is labeled reverse and is violet/white? are you saying the one under my dash I am supposed to connect too is supposed to be violet/white as well???

 

My wires look identical to the ones in the link you sent me and I connected exactly as shown? Hmmm im confused as hell now??

 

This is what I connected the reverse too in my 2010.

Damn, it looks like you've got it all correct then. I would double check your connections and make sure they are secure.

Maybe try the wire mentioned in post #92 for your reverse signal?

Ill try it again and see if I blow anymore fuses lol

 

Did mine just like that. Didn't blow any fuses. I hooked into the reverse wire behind the drivers kick plate on the floor.
