So I had my 10k maintenance done at the stealership last night (against better judgement, I know) and I asked the proverbial question of "can you turn the seat belt chime off?" Worried they might give the run-around, I quickly slipped in the fact that it is in the manual as a customizable feature.
There was some hesitation, but to my surprise they told me it could be done, but the techs that they require to do it had gone for the day. They told me to stop by earlier in the day whenever I am in the area and they would hook up the computer and turn the chime off. They also mentioned that there were several other things I could customize as well. I made sure to ask if it was a billable service and they said it was not, as it only took about 20 minutes to do.

Does anybody know of what the other customizable features could be? I'd like to have an idea of what I may/may not want customized before I go. If so, are there any features that are better one way over the other?

    Thanks in advance,
    BIDZ

I think the other main thing they can customize is the beep/flash for the keyless entry

It's covered under so many topics. I have a 2013 and my friend has a 2012. I own the little $30 cable off eBay that comes from Hong Kong. It works perfectly to disable this on both trucks. Just get it and you may find it useful elsewhere as you can look at a lot of other data.

I checked my purchase from earlier this year and he has other brands but not a Toyota Mini VCI. I searched more, this dude looks solid. *I* would have no fears buying this one

Buy it and send me a PM with the link to the 8.11.x software :) I have 8.00 and while I doubt its any different, it'd be cool to have.

Or they could go to the dealership and not spend the $30.00 and have it done for free. No money spent and you don't have to wait for the cord.

If I knew it was easy and my choice was do it myself at home on my time (10 mins) or drive to the dealer and wait for them to do it, with the risk they 1. refuse. 2. charge me. 3. take a long damn time, I'd rather do it at home. But what's nice is you can make that call on your own and for you, it sounds like the dealer is your choice. To each his/her own.

Depending on your relationship w/ your dealer.... some dealers are free, some won't do it and other TW members have been charged $50 to get it done by the dealer. For me it was pay $30 for the cable to get unlimited changes whenever i want (and I can now do my own TPMS) or haggle w/ the dealer anytime i want a change. But I can understand if someone didn't want to bother w/ the shipping/software.

I just got the cable and while I was able to monitor lots of stuff, being able to disable seat belt chime and security light and tpms I was hoping for more... maybe keyfob for keyless entry programming, window control enable from driver door lock, and maybe something else... but guess ill happily take what it does do.

I finally made it work under Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
However, it was a first-time perfectly working install when I ran it under Windows XP in Virtual Box (under Win7 x64).
