Any recommendations for replacement headlight bulbs on a 2013 Tacoma. I don't want to replace the headlight units to full HID but want a brighter whiter light. Also difficult to understand what size bulb will work? Not clear what bulb size?

I learned in my chevy to stick with oem wattage. any hotter and you risk damage to reflective surfaces and even the lenses.

Before I totally changed the headlights I bought silverstars by phillips. They say HID on them but they aren't fully an HID with a ballast just a brighter white light. You can get them at lots of places and I don't know about 2013's but on my 06 they made a huge difference.

E: there are p/n's for your year and type of truck, just look it up

Sylvania makes silver stars, and they are a great upgrade. Just be careful and dont touch the bulb with your bare hands during install, they wont last very long otherwise. I wore surgical gloves.

I put silverstars in my wifes H3 and they were great. I experienced a shorter life with them (didn't touch the bulbs) so I eventually went back to OE style, which have lasted much longer. But, I will say the sliverstars light was noticeably improved.

    Osram 70/65w http://www.danielsternlighting.com/products/products.html

I've tried a few different ones including the silver stars and none have the light output of the Osrams. They aren't pretty and blue like the other made to look like HID bulbs, which makes them brighter. It's already been proven that the wiring in Tacoma is fine for the 70w and the housing is large enough to not hurt the lens or reflectors. I've used them in two Tacomas now without issue.

    This....^^^^

Personally I prefer Narva Rangepower 50 bulbs

Silverstars are overpriced junk that blow out super quick. Ive compared them head to head with Narva and there is no comparison. I'm amazed people these days still buy that crap, but I chock it up to Sylvania marketing and the general public just not knowing any better. Ill pay the same price for a high end German made bulb that is brighter and lasts longer than 99% of the people grabbing crap off a rack at their local parts store.

"white light" is BS and just blocks out other spectrums of light so it seems wihite. truth is looks are deceiving and any bulb with a tint on it is producing less visible light than a non-tinted bulb. Just think sunglasses on - not bright. sunglasses off - bright. Waste of money for visual effects that don't help you see better.

HID kits have come down in price to be competitive with brighter bulbs sold in big-box stores. $50 for the HB2 hi/low-beam kit: http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DDM-HID-Kit-Slim-Ballast-35W-or-55W

All the bulbs are listed in the owner's manual under the "Specifications" section. Owner's manual is online: http://www.toyota.com/owners/web/pages/resources/owners-manuals

I bought VisionX bulbs off of Amazon. They have not failed me yet. They are significantly whiter than srock. They were only about $35 for headlights

I went to napa and got the brightest bulbs they offer. Nice and white, and way brighter then stock.

I have heard much debate on OEM lights... I don't know about everyone else, but my headlights are great. I get high beamed all the time with my low beams (yes they are aimed correctly). In the bush, how much more light do you need?

And when you buy aftermarket bulbs which have a higher wattage rating, they are "overdriven" and 'usually' burn out sooner.

I would invest in a decent set of aftermarket driving lights behind the grill or on a bar.

    my $0.02

I dont know shit about lights other than they are on or off and whether or not they help me see or not, so whatever Sylvania does to them to make that possible i could care less. All i know is they help me see better and they dont cost that much.
