So since my Tacoma got totaled, I'm looking at getting a 3rd gen 4runner V6 4x4.
    Couple questions:
    1) what's the most popular gear ratio with 33 inch tires.
    2) I want to get plate bumpers. The only 3 options I know of are the 4x Innovations ones, the CBI standard plate bumpers and the CBI hybrid bumpers. Are there any other good options out there? I'm leaning towards the CBI hybrid bumpers. Can anyone comment as to which company makes a better product? CBI or 4x Innovations? Any other suggestions?
    Thanks!

I have 4.56 gears in my 3rd gen runner. Also arb makes a plate bumper for them. I have another runner not the one in my sig that I'm building and it will have addicted off roads front plate bumper, sliders, and HC rear bumper. Check out his web site he's always treated me well and has great prices.

It's not bad, I like the look. This will most likely be my next bumper.

Gear ratio will depend on your transmission. An auto would probably be best with either 4.56's or 4.88's on 33's. Most people go with 4.88's because it gives a little more umph and if they want to step up to 35's they won't have to regrear again. If you're a 5 speed, then you can do 4.56's no problem or 4.88's. 4.88's will be a bit low, but allow easy transfer to 35's. A lot of 5 speed guys also never regear because they say they don't need it.

There are a good amount of plate bumpers out there besides CBI and 4x. ARB makes one for the Tacoma that can easily be modified for a 4runner, shrockworks, Addicted Offroad, Outdoor Logic did make one, but is out of production right now and a few misc ones that are local to people. Here's a good thread to check out.

I liked the outdoor logic but sadily it's hard to come by one.

Yup, someone need to clone it and start making them again. They would have a huge portion of the market since they had a quick turn around (everyone does in comparison to Shrockworks though...haha).

CBI hybrid is dope. CBI is super easy to work with as well. I just got mine yesterday. Just need to paint it and get it on the rig.
