I think the roof looks better than the hood, personally. A flat black hood just kinda reminds me of a replacement hood that was never painted.

That's easier to do with a 2nd gen tacoma but the first gens don't have the lines that cut the roof off from the back wall of the truck... i would have to make my own cut off lines and that may look terrible..but if i could, i would!

I've thought about Dipping mine between the 2 grooves on the hood. The entire one wouldn't look that great IMO. At least Plasti-Dip is removable if you don't like it. Post pics if you do it!

    nice lookin' truck Erin!

honestly I would paint the roof as well if you do the hood. it would look a little out of place and like PB said kinda looks like a replace was tossed on.

you could do a stripe or pattern and continue it up the roof for effect.

I have PS but no where the skill to use it.

on a tangent... did you paint the bumpers/grill or were they black already?

I'm headed for a black-out look and like what you got going there.

 Looks like a high quality job and it looks a little better, but it doesn't change my opinion. Just not my style, is all. But to each their own...definitely not hating on your truck.

first off,i'm a mustang fan..had a white 83 gt,oddly enough,my tacoma wound up with the same type hood paint.i train dogs as a hobby with a few friends(obedience/protection)a lot of times we're at a site too late and lose daylight,my roof lights can marginaly give enough light to pick up equiptment left on the field,phones,e-collar transmitters, long lines, leashes, ect.my hood was done at a good paint shop and they did a great job following the contours...since it's a flat paint, there is no glare when i use the roof lights...real reason,i just dig the way it looks:D,and it's almost the duplicate of my 83 gt.

I could definitely see it from a function standpoint...the glare off the scoop is pretty bad sometimes. Sounds like you made the right decision!

Are you doing it for cosmetics? Then do what you like. If you want the anti-glare on that white truck, then it's definitely a benefit. Especially if you intend to run roof lights. I think the "wide center stripe" pictured above, where you black out the raised center portion, is probably the best looking and at the same time will cut down on glare.

I think that it wouldn't be too bad if you did a section down the middle of the hood. If you did the whole hood then it would look like a replacement hood.
