2012+ front grill removal question

For anyone else wondering how to remove the front grill.

If you're looking down, pull the grill towards your body.

 

Do the tabs need to be pushed down or pulled up though? Those 6 tabs/clips are what is holding it in place.

 

Should just pull strait out. Not up.

 

I'm speaking about the tabs on the bottom holding the grill in place. The grill gets pulled straight out. The 6 tabs at the bottom clip into the bumper. I'm just wondering if they go up or down to release from the bumper as you are pulling the grill out. I'll try and find a pic.

 

This. Once you have the 4 screws removed just pull that Sucker towards you.

 

2012-2014 Grill Removal

1) Unscrew two bolts on the radiator support
2) Undo the plastic tabs on top of the grill
3) For the tabs on the bottom holding the grill in place, you need to pull towards you upwards to the release the grill. You want to undo the one on far left and the far right. The best should come out easily with a pull of the grill away from the front end of the truck.

 

You don't have to push on those tabs

Believe it or not, it can take under minutes once you know how to do it. Being the first time having the grill removed can be difficult. When I pulled the bottom of the grill out, I thought that I had broken the bottom tabs. It's just how they come out(the sound).

There is also a fastener(like the ones at the top of the grill) in the middle, at the bottom of the grill you have to take out. It's kind of hard to see when trying to be removed. There is pictures somewhere, I think.

 

None of these tabs need to be touched. There are two other tabs further out that need to be pulled upwards. They are at a slight angle.

 

Yeah, I found that extra tab you're speaking of. They certainly secured this grill in place compared to the last ones.

 

The ones at the bottom of the grill that you speak of hold the bumper in place. Don't touch these.

Haha! This would be so much easier with pictures. The only picture I have is with the grill removed. Pull toward you and not up because then you will break the tabs. There are also two huge tabs on the grill that are right and left next to the light housing. I pushed one down and it didn't move. I ended up breaking the one on the passenger side but I got it out.

 

Pretty sure there are 4 bolts. Two on the radiator support and two on the bottom corners of the grill.

 

Thanks for the pic. I can see the 2 slotted clip holes under the headlights in your pic. Thats what is holding me. When I first looked down into the grill, I thought that was part of the grill.

 

Yeah! I found that was the hardest part. The first time was the biggest pain in the ass. Like I said "since I broke one off it made it easier to get off after." Let me just say "it took me more than just a few minutes the first time to get the grill off." A lot of swearing and yelling that day.

 

Glad I searched TW before I took the grill off. You guys answered all my questions before I started and I had no issues. Finally got the horns relocated and the BAMF light bar installed.
