    Hi,

I have a suspension question about my truck. I have a 2003 4 cylinder Tacoma 4x4 with 170,000 km of mostly highway use. In the last 3 months I have noticed that the front end keeps hitting the bump stops on rutted highway and smooth gravel roads. The ride on the highway is a little bouncy at times and I have a lot of dip on the front end when I brake hard. When I lean on the truck and bounce the front or back, it dips but levels after one bounce.

I took it to the garage and they were not helpful. I checked my shocks and the garage did too, they seem fine. The garage also checked all the front end linkages etc and said that they are tight. They said that the bump stops on the front and back were showing signs of contact, and that everything was a little "saggy with age".

The back end sags slightly with a canopy on it and some gravel over the back wheels for traction in the wet, and from checking out the forum I think maybe my rear leaf springs could do with replacing. The front end has coil springs I think. If the shocks are still good, is the problem with the coil springs? Are they more compressible because they are older? How much might they be to replace?

    Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. I wasn't impressed with my local "off road specialist garage".

I was looking to put a little money into my truck and make an already bulletproof Taco better, but they were more interested in lift kits and other stuff I didn't want.
