Will this amp do what i need

kenwood x700-5 want to push my front comp. esk165 and my sub s2 rockford fosgate. Just did not know if i would need more power then what i have. Here are stats on AMP. BTW i am going for SQ not loudness.

If you could not tell, i know SH*T about audio systems.

 

Are you only doing the front components? If so, you can bridge the 4 channels down to 2, and have 100w going to them, and 500w (at 2ohm, if that is what you have) going to the sub.


With that said, I dont know what the cost of that amp is, but almost any 5 channel will work for that. Or three channels, but those are more rare.

Just looking to be a little bit more specific about what you have so that I can give to a good answer. So far it's looking like it will do fine but under power everything, which is fine but there are better options that I will tell you about when you give me specifics.

are you running 1 set of speakers or two?

Would I want a bit more power - yes. Will it work and still get plenty loud - yes.

What would I do - bridge the amp to the front speakers, and run the rears off the head unit. or no rear speakers at all, but that is up to you.

If you truly want to amp all 4, I would probably go for something like a Kenwood XR5s, JL XD700/5, Alpine PDX 5 channel, or similar. But be aware that going from 40w to 80w is only going to give you 3db of additional output, and you wont get another 3db until you hit 160w.

Dont obsess about matching power. Anything between 64 and 128w will be about the same output for the speakers, and anything between 250 and 500w is going to be close enough on the subwoofer output that you dont need to sweat it unless you are competing...

 

And do some sound deadening. It is worth the time, effort, and money to do it right, with quality products. And it will make you gear sound better.

Your speakers are rated for 100w RMS and the amp will be putting out 40w rms for those speakers, this is fine. However your sub channel will be over powering your sub at full tilt, but you can turn down the gains until you are at your max rms. You should be fine with that sub but you will need to turn the bass gains down so that you will not blow the sub up.

An easy way to do this is to get a mulitmeter and before you hook any speakers up, to keep the neighbors happy, put power to the amp and measure the amps and volts that it is pumping out on your sub channel. Using the formula Watts=Amps x Volts set your gains so that your watts are under the rms for the sub.(200) Then run your wires and hook everything up. Also when you're doing this make sure your Bass Boost and equalizer on the amp and head unit are at zero
