Howdy folks! Is it true? Or just in my area. SW Virginia, lucky to get 1000 below MSRP. Thoughts and comments? Access cab with v6 and off road package.

They are marked up 4 thousand from dealer cost. You can believe that. So thats about how much room they have.

When I bought, I did my research and came to the conclusion that I could get 3k off which I did plus another 1k for the college grad program (thanks to my wife) on my sport. Good luck!

Check out the "2012' what did you pay thread." this will give you real world information. Some people are full of shit so take it for what it's worth.

I always just offer $500 over invoice, which is a fair offer. Then let any incentives kick in, but not sure if there are any right now (usually aren't any on Tacomas, but more lately than in the past).

I got a 2004 Tacoma for 1500 under invoice once because I kept walking out on them on other car purchases and buying from another dealer. They were trying to earn my business and were doing well that month, so they made a great deal. But, the next vehicle I tried to get from them they tried to put the screws to me so I walked out once again and went back to the other dealer (who sold me the vehicle for $500 over invoice).

Call around and make offers if the one you are dealing with won't budge.

Take a hard look at the Costco program. My father-in-law is a Toyota dealer and he thinks the Costco program is one of the best and easiest ways to get a good deal on a new Taco. The MSRP and invoice prices you find online aren't always reliable, but they will get you in the ballpark. Good luck!

Sticker was $34K (Double Cab, TRD O/R, Auto/v6/TRD Premium pkg/tow kit/a few other extras).

Paid $30K not counting taxes/fees. Also got a $500 Toyota kicker for using their financing - which I signed up for and 1 week later paid off using a better deal than 2.9%

Leveraged info from the FIGHTING CHANCE website. Lots of legwork needed but it works (at least for me - YMMV 0f course)

    Good luck
