Twice throughout the summer our gym does an 'on-site' Spartan Training morning. So instead of the boot-camp style training at the gym, we go out to a friend's farm, and set up a simulated course. Today was the first one of the summer.

Here's a shot of us afterwards. By the way, we're sitting in the mud-pit for this photo - haha. (I'm bottom right - in the red shirt)...

Ran the Bridger Ridge Run on Saturday, 21 miles w/ over 9000' of elevation gain- I ran it in 2012 and forgot how grueling it was. I was able to shave 70 minutes off of my previous race, almost putting me mid-pack :)

was greeted by bagpipes about half way to Hard Scrabble Pass

little over half way and after several tough climbs you're faced with Saddle Peak, very demoralizing

aid station at Baldy Peak and only five miles to go, God bless the aid workers as they had to hike in with all the water and supplies

my buddy who I've been training w/ all summer had to bow out at the half way mark, he was cramping bad and puking- I'm sure he'll get another shot, I plan on running it again in 2016- every other year is plenty for this race :D

I've got my first trail half marathon on the 24th of this month. I did the 10k portion of the same event last year so I thought I needed to step it up a notch.

Thanks. Thinking about a 50 miler with 10500k of climbing in April. Lake Sonoma 50....... Sometimes I think I should have stuck to road running. LOL

^ excellent! Get that 50k under your belt, no problems- then definitely try a 50 miler, problems-then get another 50k or two under your belt :)

Completed my first Spartan Ultra Beast this past Saturday at Sun Peaks, BC. What a gruelling test. They advertised it at 42k - but switched it up to just under 50k. My best friend and I were among roughly 90, or so, participants to attempt the race. Sun Peaks is a mountain ski resort - so the course was an absolute grind. We did 2 laps of the Beast course - which had us ascend and descend the mountain roughly 4 times total. Only 70 of the original completed it. Easily the toughest thing I've done to date. Feel pretty accomplished though!!

Here's a shot with me and my 'bling'. I brought along my Sprint and Super medals for the money shots. Oh...and the Ultra Beast medal is a screw up, on behalf of Spartan Western Canada. They ordered up the medals from the same company that made the Killington World Champion medals.....and somehow got the same medals as that race. Even though the ribbons are 'Sun Peaks - Canada' specific. We were told they were going to mail our correct medals once they get them (lame!!!!)
