So what I've gathered here and after a search is that there is what I would call a total of 4 Revisions. It's possible that they did 2 and 3 simultaneously but appeared like the BJ issue started it all...

    Rev 1
This one had early failing BJ's and a problem with the rubber compound at the bushings which resulted in tearing.

    Rev 2
    Fixed the BJ's.
These things have been around forever giving excellent service life even in non-greaseable form, so it should have never happened. Too bad that one of SPC's vendors failed on this.

    Rev 3
Improved the rubber compound at the bushings and enhanced the geometry of the rubber. These vulcanized assemblies also have been around for a long time (ie. motor mounts) and this too should not have happened.

Looks like SPC should have put more time in on testing before releasing this product.....they know that now.
I do like the overall design because the part addresses shortcomings in the other options, both aftermarket and OEM.

In Rev 4 which is supposed to be out in early 2012, I would like to see some grease fittings at the BJ and at the bushings.
I think that part of the fail at the bushings could have been due to the bolts getting dry and binding. This would have transfered more movement to the rubber cushion causing the tearing.

Going all this way and no greaseable BJ ? What's up with that ?
At least I can't see a zerk in those latest pics.
Some would probably like to see greaseable poly bushings but 99% of vehicles use the quieter, vibration-absorbing, rubber system with good results.

SPC has a good design, they just need to clean it up a bit and it will be the price-performance sweet spot in aftermarket UCA's.

Update, I emailed SPC about ordering their UCA's from Amazon and asked about the redesign. Here is their response, take it as you may, I personally am going to order them.

    Chad,

The original issues were with the rubber bushings. These bushings have not been produced in about 2 years. Ordering from amazon will get you the latest design, as most of our distributors there do not keep those parts in stock, but instead will use us to drop ship this item directly to you.
