As far as the brake lines are concerned, I have some extended ones for when I lift mine. I have seen 2 trucks that you could pluck their rear lines like a guitar string if they flex at all... I would say get them unless you never intend to offroad

I test flexed my Dakars and had a couple inches of slack in my stock brake lines , but extended lines couldn't hurt

The two members I was referring to anyway are MontanaTaco who has an almost OME lift and rcbs204 with icons. MontanaTaco's lines are the ones I saw stretched while flexed and rcbs has some pretty tight lines all of the time. I have always complained about squishy pedal feel too so I would imagine that couldn't hurt the cause either...

Yeah, rear lines. MontanaTaco has an AAL and rcbs204 has dakars. That was just mu observation though. I don't know how tight is just too tight either. It was enough to encourage me to get extended lines though

Hey Dave, Dave here from Calgary and I pretty much just got the same set up but without top plate spacer and I went with the Dakar springs. Here is a picture for Swampmonkey and yes there is some rake.

While YotaDan (sales rep of Wheeler's Off-Road) simply indicates my stock U-bolts are long enough, I am assuming he is implying that it would be okay to reuse them. Both PAlittlematty and silver taco recommend otherwise.
Silver taco, can you please point me towards what you read that influenced your decision?
What is so dire about choosing to reuse them? Would anyone else like to chime in?
Is there anyone who did reuse their stock U-bolts?

Based on OZ-T's experience and photos, I am choosing to stick with stock brake lines for now. I will slowly and deliberately test flex the rear axle once the lift has been done and make my final decision on the matter then.

I am choosing to go with the top plates because of my DCLB configuration and my understanding that the TSB add-a-leaf will compliment nicely for an even stance. At the very worst, I can pull them if I end up with an opposite rake.

Can someone also let me know if I understand this correctly and this is a true statement: The TSB add-a-leaf will achieve the same or higher final rear lift height than the Dakars.
If I did not have the TSB leaf pack, the Dakars would be a no-brainer, but I am quite satisfied with the performance of my current rear springs.

This guy is up for providing extended Steel lines, though no clue on quality. I plan to get a full set.

The TSB AAL is 1 1/2" , yes ? So that would get you 1 1/2" of lift over the TSB ( 4 leaf pack ) height .

The Dakars will gain you 2 - 2 1/2" of height over the TSB ( 4 leaf pack )

and FWIW , I'm not advocating you do not get extended brake lines , I was simply showing the slack in the stock lines at the flex I had in the pics .

That amount of flex is probably the most my truck will ever see , however as Doug pointed out , with extreme flex , the stock lines may not be enough .

It really depends on your usage .

IIRC, general thinking is they stretch under torque and would be weaker the second time around. Seems like most people say replace them, but I have heard a few guys say they had no qualms about reusing them.

Personally, $40 for news ones was worth my peace of mind.

I'm just off the phone with ToyTec. They informed me that the Dakar springs will achieve the same lift height as the TSB add-a-leaf.

Considering the TSB gives about 1" above the three leaf 'non-TSB' pack, adding the 1 1/2" TSB add-a-leaf brings the total to 2 1/2" over the non-TSB pack. This falls in line with the Dakars.

Perhaps you may have thought of Dakar compared to the three leaf spring packs?

Ultimately, I want to be certain I do not end up with an opposite rake at the end of the day.

I'm still comfortable with my add-a-leaf decision, especially since the most I haul is a dirt bike from time to time and would rather not have a firm rear when empty.

I will be doing the same lift from Downsouthmotorsports, except I will be using their ICON 3 leaf progressive in the rear!

I have a thread with real world Dakar measurements , that's what I was basing it on , I also had the 4 leaf ( TSB ) pack , and now have the Dakars
