Post your homemade trailers

fishing for idea to build utility trailer. So if you have pics of your build can you please post it?
I am going to stop by Tractor Supply and see what they have in terms of axles. I have Toyota pickup rear axle so in theory I could use that but would rather go wit h something that weights less.

 

I built a hydraulic dump trailer for my tractor. It is about 6'x8' and the sides are about 3' high. It has a removable tailgate and a 3500lb. axle. It is all steel so it is very heavy. Unfortunately I am not an engineer and the first big load that I put on it this year completely bent the frame once the hydraulic ram started extending out. I'll try to post some pics in the next day or so but as of now, I have to cut it apart and re-do some things. It did pull perfectly straight on the highway so at least I did that correctly.

Started on a flat deck. Lifted it with 31's Jeep rims thanks to the lug pattern, put my old truck box on it, Used spare decking to add sides, Some cleats from the boat, and some hooks. Grabbed lights and a jeep tire mount from a friend. Seeing as how i have a truck and do not use the trailer it has been left at his house under the condition he maintains it.

My friend put his 35 all terrains on it just because they fit.

 

Hold some weight

 

I found a cheap utility trailer with rotted decks but the rest of it was in good condition. cheaper than buying axles and such

 

Not a utility trailer but a couple of my many builds... Since boating season is slowing down and we now have TIG welder we are going to start building aluminum utility trailers.

 

Not a home built trailer, but I renovated the hell out of this $300 craigslist special

not quite what you're looking for but I built this jetski trailer last year. 2500lb axle on my old taco leaf springs. Custom hangers and shackles and flipped overload leaf.

I would use stiffer springs than the taco ones if I were you. This trailer when loaded is pretty spongy.



these are all old, before I flipped the overload. Notice the helper springs that didn't help anything.







The position of the axle is adjustable (hence the bolt on design).

 

I didnt see any shocks in the pictures above.... they might help with the spongy feeling.

 

yep, that is actually next on the list. My brother and I took it all the way to OKC this summer and it definitely rode nice on the freeway, but once you hit the whoop section also known as I-40 going into OKC, it wasnt so nice. There were a few marks inside the fenders where the tires made contact.

 

yeah looking back I should have done that. But I was able to return the helper springs and flipping the overload actually stiffened it up a lot. Im going to throw some shocks on there (also free) and it should be good after that. Plus now my trailer is 5% taco
