    Hello
I have a 2003 Taco 2.4 liter engine. I use it to tow a tear drop trailer which weighs around 800 lbs. While I don't have much problem on a flat surface, It does lose speed going up a grade.
    Question:
I'm thinking about purchasing a new Taco with a 2.7 liter motor. How much better if any will this 2.7 be able to tow the teardrop or something heavier like a boat. I'n not looking to get the V6 because of the reduced gas mileage.

It should be much better, as it has more torque. Welcome to the site, BTW>

    Welcome to the group.

I tow with the 2.4L/5 speed manual. It's fine towing a 1900lb boat @ 65MPH getting 19 to 20MPG. Also tow a CampLite 11RD 1500LB travel trailer and average between 16 to 17MPG @ 55MPH in 4th gear @ 2500RPM in non mountain areas. Have not weighed the TT or boat, just going by manufacturers weights. The wind resistance on the TT is the killer on power & fuel economy. Feels like a different (more powerful) TV towing the low profile boat.

Have not towed with a 2.7L yet.

    Here's some info I found about the 2003 2.4 & 2.7 Tacos.
