    Haven't added anything to her.

    Plan to purchase trailer by the end of June...looking at several models 19-21 feet, all around 3800 dry, pretty sure based on previous RV experience that we will end up around 5000lbs ready to camp. The tongue weight plus our passenger/dog load will take up almost but not quite all of our payload- I believe we are rated at 1400 and the load will be in the high 1100's.

    That said, of course safety is concern #1. Not going broke is a close second, though.

    In that frame of mind, what are our best picks for:

    Hitch
    Brake Controller
    anything else I need to do to the Tacoma before we try to bring home a trailer?

    Equalizer Brand weight distribution hitch - I have the 1000 lb bars, they work great.

    Prodigy - I have the P3, again, works great.

    Timbrens or Air Bags - I have Timbrens for ease of use and lack of maintenance.

    Towing Mirrors - You just missed a group buy and OE replacements.

    Here's what we use to tow our Hideout 19FLB (~5000lbs);

    Equalizer hitch, 10,000lbs (came with trailer).
    Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake controller (same guts as P3 no LCD).
    Milenco Grand Aero tow mirrors, (had these cipa ones but got rid of them the first trip)
    Husky sway control bar.
    Scanguage2 +xgauge codes for Transmission Temp.

    Next on the list is suspension and airbags.. :D

    Thanks for the replies. So is there an advantage to getting a hitch rated for way more than the Taco will ever pull?

    Nothing wrong with a heavier hitch. Just do not exceed the trucks tow rating because the hitch is rated for more.
