What is the longest thing you carried without towing?

    I know about those. That is the one in the pic below that hangs down where you see more of it and doesn't bolt to bumper like the oem does. It did it's job, I just like it more hidden...............

    See the bar underneath the bumper going all the way accross? none of that shows with the oem. And you could see the side plates from the side. Personal preference, that's all.


    oem = cleaner looking to me.........bump caps are tradeoff I can live with, lol.

    Thanks!

    I think that I understand? Basically saying put something on top of load to raise its total load height so that straps on side rails push all of it down???

    I do have d rings on floor in front and back, but still want to understand cause it's interesting, and seems like the kind of knowledge that always seems to be surprisingly important at some time in life.

    This is good stuff. I looked for an hour at retrofit (what I'll call it) hitches. This is good to know. Money is tough right now but this is surely something that I'm interested in for the future.
