What can i tow? '14 V6 Tacoma tow/sport pack

I'm sure it's been posted before, but I was just wondering what would I be able to tow with a 2014 Tacoma v6 TRD 2WD short bed? How much weight should i stay under? I was told it had 6500 lbs towing capacity at the dealership but the internet says otherwise....It has the tow and sports (irrelevant) package. I was looking at a travel trailer that has a gross weight of 3500 lbs and a dry weight of 2900 lbs. First time buying a travel trailer, or looking to buy, and wanted to take our first trip. It's a 4 hour drive, last hour will be texas hill country. Thanks.

 

Should have no problems with that weight.

 

I tow a 2015 Lance 2285 with no problem, most of the people talk out the ass. said I can't do it but I do with no problem, said I would be lucky to get 150 miles a tank towing , I get about 250. The trailer wieghts in about 4600 lbs and have a WDH and brake controller , a must have. I stay around 55-60 mph and keep a eye out for nuckelheads on the road.

 

I know some folks do pull 27'+ RV's, but in my opinion it's pushing your luck a bit, especially on a windy day. The Tacoma just doesn't have the size and weight. The weights you list should be a fairly easy and safe tow.
