if you don't do much off road I would go with air bags.you can adjust the pressure based on the load. Don't forget the axle limit. Air bags will get ripped off in serious flexing.
If you don't want to worry at all then springs is the answer. You will have to put up with the rough ride sometimes

I went airbags, but I don't off-road my truck beyond a dirt/gravel road environment. I have quads and a side by side 6x6 for off-road purposes. I've had my airbags installed for right at 4 yrs now and they've served me well. Firestone Ride-Rites are what I have BTW.

Yeah do not off road anything past my gravel driveway and possibly a logging Rd once every 5 years or so. I'm wanting something to level out my camper is 5800lbs so it's within its limits. Just want a little extra help.

The situation you're describing is exactly what the airbags were designed to do. You can air them up when you're towing and back down when you're not. Pretty much what I do. I run mine day to day at 9-10 psi. Stiffens the ride slightly and gives the truck a slight tail up rake, but I can put my 680 lb ATV in the bed without needing to add any air (comes close to level). When I load up my trailer(s), I air up to level after hooking up and loading; usually in the range of 15-20 psi, but varies based on the load/configuration obviously. I think you can run them as low as 5 psi, IIRC. Good luck.

Firestone airbags sound like a perfect fit for you. And a small hand pump will do you just fine. No need for compressor. You can add 10 psi per bag in a few pumps

Came across mine on Craigslist NIB when I was still debating springs or bags. Guy had bought the kit and never installed.
