Hey guys was looking for some towing advice. I currently drive a 2011 Tacoma dbl cab 4wd v6 with a manual transmission and an allpro rear bumper with integrated tow hitch. I was looking at purchasing a camper, the dealer I made my choice of dealing with here locally carries winnebago. the model I was interested in was the 2201ds with a dry weight of 4820lbs. and a fresh water tank of 43gallons. the one venture I was planning to attend has no water hook ups which means i would have to show up with a full fresh water tank. I guess my question is does this sound risky? This event which is known as thunder fest is probably the only event I would go to that would require me to fill and drive an excess of about 20 miles. Does the trailer sound like too much? I myself am not wanting to max out my truck either but yes I do like a little creature comfort and space. any advice would be much appreciated.

Even with your water, you'd still be under 5200lbs, leaving you 1300lbs for other stuff. I wouldn't worry about it, especially if it isn't but 20 miles.

Does your truck have the towing package?

Well I just found out that no my truck does not have the few components that would make it a tow package on a manual transmission. looks like the only thing im missing is the engine oil cooler and the alternator.

Keep shopping, I think you can find the same features in a lighter and less expensive trailer.

Rated weight of a camper is empty no battery no propane tanks no water empty dump tanks no gear. It up to you but you would be much happier with a lot less weight.

You'll be maxing your truck out; find something lighter.
