E-Fan Setup??

Does anyone know of any companies who make an electric fan kit for the 2nd gen Tacos? Really wanna get rid of my stock fan and go to an e-fan setup. Just didnt wanna have to build my own kit.

Anyways, Flex-a-lite makes a setup specifically for the 2nd generation Tacoma. Go to their website and you'll find everything you need about it. Not to mention, if you use the search function that is located on this website, you would have found this same information.

This Flex-A-Lite is application specific for the 05-09 Tacoma, and IMO is much higher build quality and a lot better looking that what you can come up with by rigging your own setup. The price also isnt too bad.

What is the major benefit to this fan over the stock?

 

Your engine doesnt have to work as hard because it doesnt have that fan attached to it. With the fan attached the motor is also spinning that. It just puts more load on the engine. Plus the e-fan is much quieter and more efficient. You can actually add a few horsepower and MPG's just by switching to an electric fan.

 

The engine still has to generate electricity via the alternator, which loads the engine. This load is more evenly applied, and has a benefit under lighter load applications, where the fan might run less frequently. As for making more than a slight differance in mileage, it is unlikely. On vehicles from the 90's that was true, especially of vehicles with no fan clutch. The newer fan clutches uncouple at higher rpms, so the hp loss is nowhere what it used to be.
