4 cylinder hauling another vehicle?

    blue led headlights, 285/75/16 grabber AT2's, custom pedals, custom shifter, flowmaster 40 series muffler, bedlinered fender flares, 2.5" lift kit via shackles and spacers, custom exhaust out the back, chrome exhaust tip, and Herculined bed, Weathertech floormats, Cabelas Trail Gear Camo Seat Covers ... Nice thing was I got the truck for $4000
    I was thinking of picking up a small trail rig to beat around on, something like a suzuki samuria or a small toyota pickup, but was wondering if my 2001 2.7 4 banger could tow that much wieght. Im running 33 inch tires so i know it would be pushing it, but has anyone hauled a small vehicle with their 4 cylinder? And can it be done?

    I think the Taco is rated to pull 3500 lbs with stock tires. I would try not to exceed that, especially with over sized tires.

    well, i'd love to keep it legal and inspectable, but Im only 16 and can't afford to pay for to insurance payments

    Would you plan on flat towing or putting the trail rig on a trailer?

    Flat towing would work best weight-wise but you'll have to mount the draw bar to the front of the vehicle. Also, you'll be screwed if you bust an axle on the trail or do some other type of damage that keeps it from rolling properly.

    A car hauler trailer will be the most reliable means of moving your trail rig around but you'll have to expect it add an extra 1000-1500lbs to the weight being towed.

    Just some food for thought.

    A samurai weighs in at around 2100lbs in stock trim, a steel 16' utility trailer is around 1500lbs.
