I have a stock 2014 dcsb ted off road 4x4. tires are wearing out and its time to replace. I would like everyones ideas if possible on what i should do suspension wise to put on 33s. I do not want to weld but would like to have as much suspension travel as possible without it being irreversible. Thank you for your help fellas and pics would be awesome too!

    Yes sir
OME is Old Man Emu, dakars are rear leaf springs, and LR UCA's are SPC's Light Racing upper control arms. OME is mid range lift that'll run you around $1000 depending on what you're getting, they have different length coils and spring rates depending on what you have (i.e. weight up front and desired lift). Dakars are rear spring pack that give 2.75 inches of lift I believe and are a bit stiffer but allow for better towing (don't quote me on that part though, haven't read into them enough). LR UCA's will allow you to obtain better caster so you can get back to factory alignment after your lift. 2-3 inches of lift generally doesn't allow you to obtain the proper alignment so the UCA's will help. General consensus is to get 0 toe, 0 camber, and 3 degrees of caster. Also, the UCA's are important because you'll most likely wear your new tires poorly without them because you can't get the factory alignment.

OME link for questions and you can see how it looks:

    Light Racing UCA's questions:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/su...earance-driving-report-light-racing-ucas.html

Also, where's the voting poll? :D

    Nope.

The way to think of long travel is - making suspension tuning your full time hobby.

Most folks just want to bolt on an upgraded suspension and then drive the truck.

You'll get better answers if you talk about how you use your truck, and what you want the suspension to do for you that the factory suspension is NOT doing.

ok so i definitely want to run larger tires, somewhere in the 33 range (as big as i can without having to re gear). Improve the ride quality on and off road, which shouldn't be hard since the stock ride is complete shit. And.....finally I would like to obtain some added travel for better off road capabilities. Thank you again guys for any info.

Yea I think OME would be a solid fit, it's generally what we'll throw out there when you just say "I want 33's" kinda thing. Also, 33's are the max without regearing and a ton of trimming, I run 285/70/R17 BFG KO's and I rub a bit on the front of the wheel well but I haven't trimmed, I only rub at full wheel turn so to me it's not a huge deal yet since I still have spacers . Once my OME setup arrives (Monday ) I'll decide whether or not I want to trim for when I'm wheelin'.

If you want a better setup, going icon is definitely a good way to go, they have a bunch of different stages depending on your price range/quality you want/can afford.

Total chaos (TC) make great UCA's, but again, for a guy just wondering what he needs for 33's, LR UCA's are generally what guys throw out there because they're around $400 rather than the TC UCA's which are roughly $900 depending on which ones you choose. You can also go in the middle of LR and TC with Camburg, again, another solid product.

Icon has something like 7 stages actually.
The OME shocks are not going to gain any travel up front. I think the rears are maybe 1" longer.

The icon extended travel coil overs with upper control arms will allow an addition 1" of travel. Much better controlled and not such a harsh suspension top out. Many other bolt in extended coil overs out there.

Or total chaos and all pro offer some long travel kits. There are a ton of options without welding.

Do some research. We have no clue what you're looking for, what your budget is etc. I don't think anyone is going to list every single option for you not having a clue about what you want to spend. There is a huge difference between some OME shocks and a full blown long travel kit.

Keep in mind many off road suspensions won't give you MORE travel, but will make better use of the travel you've got before bottoming out.

You'll get more uptravel at the expense of a little downtravel. Combined with a stiffer spring rate - most lifted suspensions take a lot more abuse and can travel faster on rough roads before ever touching the bumpstops.

You sure about that? I don't know of any long travel rear that doesn't require a bed cage and that typically involves welding to the frame and a couple holes in the bed.

Nope. Just ADS Racing Shocks and Dirt King Fabrication  Read other members builds and find out what you are looking for too. This helped me out a ton, figuring out which direction to go with my suspension. Of course you will continue to hear, "save your money and buy a mid travel setup first" skipping the OME and Bilstein setups (ex. King, ADS, Fox, Icon....). I went with Bilstein to start and pieced it together. Ill never regret starting out small and building up. I only appreciate my suspension more and more as I add to it
