    I've got a 2005 Tacoma, V6, TRD, 4WD, manual trans.
I'm hearing a loud squeaking from underneath when the engine is running and clutch is out. The noise goes away when I push in the clutch. I'm thinking that maybe the manual trans fluid is low. Does anybody have a video link or diagram to show me where there drain, overflow and fill plugs are located? Also, if you think I need to check something else, please let me know. Thanks.

It's got nothing to do with the fluid. If it goes away when you press the clutch in, it is the throwout bearing. There was a TSB for it a while back. I got mine replaced under that TSB last year, but I had to pay for labor because I got my dealer to work in a new clutch. My truck only had 60,000 miles on it but the trans. was out and I said why not.

You can search around and find lots of people have had this problem in 6 speed Tacomas and FJ Cruisers. The solution seems to be the TSB, or the URD upgrade.

    URD Upgrade:

TSB (Click link in first post):

Edit: Apparently there is another company, PDM, that has a sleeve kit like the URD one. I haven't heard nor read much about it. Someone else maybe can help out with that.

Also, how many miles are on your truck?

Thanks. This is helpful. It has about 150,000 miles. The dealer is about to completely take apart my truck anyway since my Tacoma was affected by the frame rust recall (they are replacing the entire frame, etc), so I will ask if they can give me a break on the cost of replacing the throwout bearing.
