    hey, colorado.
i searched the forums but did not find anything for this specific LSC. the previous threads deal with Campaign Number E0D. this one is about ESD.

today i received a snail mail LSC notice from toyota. it looks like toyota is extending the frame rust fix to a bunch of new states:

Certain 05-08 MY Tacoma vehicles operated in specific cold climate areas with high road salt use, may exhibit more than normal corrosion to the frame. This Limited Service Campaign (LSC) covers vehicles currently registered in AK, AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, HI, IA, ID, KS, LA, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NM, NV, OK, OR, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, WA, and WY.

has anyone dropped their truck off for a frame inspection yet? i have one scheduled for monday. already looked at the frame and there is some oxidation but not like some of the other frames people have posted in this thread:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...ce-campaign-corrosive-resistant-compound.html

it appears to me that the consensus is get the frame replaced if you can. don't get the corrosive resistant spray. tricky part about getting the frame replaced - people are waiting weeks to months, driving loaners the entire time while the truck sits on the service lot.

i don't see much rusting on my frame. i don't know what they use on colorado roads during the winter, but it's way better than other states' winter road conditions.

thoughts? anyone have theirs scheduled for an inspection or have already accomplished this? i will post an update and tell you what the dealer says after they inspect mine.

I'm sad now that I cleaned up my frame, painted it and under coated it.

I'll still get an inspection though

I've been wondering about this since it was first announced for the other states. I guess it did come to here, but the problem is I don't have nearly enough rust on the frame to qualify for a new one, and I think it would take a long time to do so unless they relax the requirements. Sure I've got the beginning states of it all over, but mag chloride doesn't have the impact salt does. I couldn't believe some of those pictures from other states with quarter or larger sized holes rusted through.

I'll be interested to hear what they say in your case, since I haven't heard of anyone else here who had one inspected. I've been having that debate too - if it did come here would I go for the spray and would it be worth it? What would they say about the clear indications it's been off-road (since I've scraped a few things, and of course that's where rust starts or is usually worst)? I remember seeing some frames stacked out back of Pederson, but I think they were Tundras.

I haven't seen a notice in the mail yet though. Just for the rear springs, but that was a 'it's coming' letter and not a 'take it in for inspection' letter.

    the mailer states:
If you believe your vehicle has been operated in cold climate regions of the United States where high road salt is frequently used, any authorized Toyota Dealer will inspect your vehicle's frame for excessive corrosion.*
The Limited Service Campaign covers remedy cost for perforation of the vehicle's frame caused by rust corrosion with no mileage limitations until 03/31/2016 (your vehicle must be inspected by this date).
*Please see your Toyota dealership for further details.

    - looks like the dealer will determine "excessive corrosion". according to the other threads, the dealer bangs the frame with some kind of device, tool, or mjölnir.

    - if you spent money trying to correct the corrosion problem, the mailer has a separate sheet of paper where you can document your cost. you may be reimbursed for your efforts.

    - don't think anything off road will cause the level of corrosion we have seen in these frames.

    - i would stay away from the spray. ask for the frame replacement if it's bad enough. the dealer will probably hold your vehicle due to "unsafe driving condition". the spray does not dry and you'll deal with tar and greasiness forever, with leaves, dust, sticks, and rocks gathering on all sprayed surfaces.

    - will provide an update tomorrow after i receive the inspection. i have some rusting, but doubt the dealer will do the replacement or spray. if you have any questions i should ask the service people, list them here and i will do my best to make a list and bring back answers.

inspection update. my frame is fine, only surface rust. my service guy has seen the terrible rusted out frames, where he could poke his finger through and watch the frame crumble and flake. mine is still holding up strong.

dealer has inspected dozens of trucks and has recently performed frame replacements for ten tacos. these tacos are transplants from the east coast, exclusively military personnel who are now stationed here. usually takes two days to perform the swap. frames are ordered after a specialist comes down from denver to inspect frames and determine if they need to be replaced or sprayed. understandably the east coasters are suffering with long waits while other non-salt-using states are dealing with corrosion differently.

got my truck washed, continued to ignore the pedal/floormat recall, and rolled out of there satisfied.

Yeah I really wouldn't expect any CO truck that wasn't a transplant to have perforation. I know I've been keeping an eye on mine and there's stuff I don't like but nothing that would qualify for replacement. Did they even offer spray? Since they have that reimbursement thing it occurs to me you might still be able to get something out of it if you take care of things yourself.

And I hear you on the pedal recall, mine is still like the day I bought it. :)

frame is fine after 8 years. they told me as long as i didn't drive around winter salt i will be fine. the horror stories of everyone who got the goo really turned me against it.

i didn't want them to saw my pedal corners off at the bottom or have my weathertech mats taken out and replaced with a cheap knockoff mat that cannot contain snowmelt, dirt, rocks, etc. there is no way to waive the recall...it'll still pop up every time.

Hi. I'm in Iowa and just stumbled onto this thread. I got my letter about the LSC yesterday. My frame has a lot of surface rust, but I think it is otherwise solid. Will be scheduling the inspection soon.

Finally got my notification in the mail today. I know it'll pass, not sure if I'll even bother. Have until March anyway.

Mine's not visibly rusted, but still a concern after the March 2016 deadline. Anybody have the spray done? Any pics of it?

There are several pics and some video in the thread OP links to. Mine's native, so I can't imagine it would even qualify for the coating let alone replacement. And I wouldn't let them do the coating anyway from what I've seen.
