35's on the way, hopefully before Ocala next weekend...

 

Never added a pic on the 35's to my build thread. More new stuff to come soon.

 

This housing should work well. The welds look nice. The knuckle balls are both set to the same angle, the housing is square and straight. The only think I can't check is axle alignment, I don't have a bare third, pucks and an alignment bar to measure that. It looks like it should all go together well.

The housing came with their stud eliminator kit and a tube of RTV, I thought the RTV was a nice touch.

Steering knuckle preload is dialed in. The axle is ready to hang under the truck. I was going to put it all the way together, but it's way too heavy to maneuver around. So the 3rd, axles, hubs and rotors will go on after it's bolted in. From there I'll burn in the shock mounts and steering stops.

This may all happen on Sunday if I'm not too hung over from the Buffett concert this Saturday night.

I'll let you know if it's really worth ditching the spacers once I wheel it, they talk about scrub radius. We'll see, real world vs bench racing.

 

My scrub radius is horrible. 2.5" b.s. wheels and 1.5" front wheel spacers to match IFS rear width

 

Housing in hanging under the Runner. Got the 3rd plugged in and called it quits after that. Only thing that sucks is I boogered up a thread on one of the ubolts. So fix the ubolt, swap the short side shaft for the plus 3 version. Install the axles, spindles and hubs. Gear oil and grease, stick the wheels back on and oh yea hope they clear the larger V6 calipers, if they don't grinder time!

Then it gets easy, alignment and wheel it until the next thing breaks.

 

Got the drivers side axle, hub and lockout hub installed today. Without the wheel spacers the larger V6 brakes touch the inside of the wheel. I clearenced the caliper but it still touches, so I ordered some 1/4 inch spacers. Should clear fine with the spacer and I already have longer wheel studs so that should be a non-issue. I disassembled the axle shaft from the Birf on the passenger side and installed the longer shaft.

Called it quits after that, too hot out.

 

What size wheels? I think we have the same, my 15's would not fit period without spacers, but the 17's just needed some caliper shaving, nothing crazy.

 

15's with 3.75 back spacing. The caliper is touching the face of the rim, the perimeter clears fine. I have some 1/4 inch spacers on the way.

 

damnit, I have a set of brand new 1/4" spacers that I was looking to get rid of

 

1/4 inch spacer worked perfect, less than 20 bucks too. Amazon really has it figured out, ordered late Saturday, in my hands on Monday. Should have the passenger side together this coming weekend.

My Runner moved under its own power this morning, first time in a couple of months. Only a couple things and we're road worthy again. Weld on shock mounts and steering stops, install new longer wheel studs on the passenger side, rebuild one lockout hub and a front end alignment. Should only be two hours or so to wrap it up and be back on the trail.
