Don't worry about him. He thinks he has as much experience a cop because he shoots with them in pistol matches.

You do not want to go below the recommended tire pressure unless you are offroading and going slow...under-inflation on the pavement is asking for a blow out and with a high profile vehicle (truck/suv) that raises the chance of a roll over in a blow out senario especially if you are not trained in emergency manuevers.
Do not go with the psi listed on the door panel, that is for stock wheels and tires only and will be too low for most replacement tires.
Do not go with the max psi unless you are towing or carrying a very heavy load close the the max load range of your tires.

10 psi less in the rear is absolutely ridiculous, do not do that! You do not want to have 10 psi difference in any of your tires. For better traction in the rain you should set all of your tires the same and right around the suggested psi from the manufacturer.

Putting weight in the bed of the truck does help with traction, but its best in places it snows/rains regularly, but you live in Cali so it would be more of a PITA than just driving a little slower, taking turns a little wider and slower, braking sooner and softer and having the proper psi in your tires.
I live in NV, it hardly rains here also and the 1st time I drove my truck in the rain here I about spun it around just going 15mph, sure scared me too. I had to re-learn to drive it in the rain. My stock Dunlops were terrible in the rain, I have Nitto TG all terrains and they are great in the rare rain we get....Also you have to consider in places where it doesn't rain much the streets get super slick from all the build up of oils that raise to the surface in the rain, they do not get washed away regularly like in cities with a lot of rain, so even with great tires it really comes down to the driver.

Oh yeah, I'm thinking you should try around 34-38 psi and test with the chalk method...I'm thinking you shouldn't be below 30psi and not over 40 psi, but I have nothing to base that just my opinion and a little reading on what others are running.

Anyone else have input...sounds like she is running possibly LT265/70/17 C rated BFG AT's???

Probably wouldn't hurt to get a balance and alignment also. I needed one with my 1st oil change.

ninja ??!!--- nope it' was a Bruce Lee wanna be with his kung fu chop suey kick!!!!! My truck at one point did wander off the freeway but come to find out it was a balancing issue.
From what it seems, it would be best for me to go back to the tire shop and see if they can help me out with the psi --aligment issue --maybe --balancing --that sort of fun stuff.

We just had our first rain in 4 months and my truck was hydroplaning at the rear. Slick roads, light bed, and too heavy of a right foot do not mix well.

    A few bolts are different.
another thought... every set of new BFG AT's I have ever gotten have been a bit slick in the rain till they get some miles on them. plus first rain and oil on the road. I think you will be fine after 100 or so miles of wear on the tires and all the above advice.

I have one intersection where in the rain this always happens.

I got used to it and have adjusted my driving accordingly. Truck still drives 100x better with the BFG A/Ts than it did with the Rugged Fails.

I have the '09 Prerunner with Offroad Pkg so Auto LSD but no true LSD. Its been raining hard here the last few days and the tires on my Taco are very easy to spin, especially when rounding a corner. The slip light comes on and then the back end bucks. I'm not sure if its axle hop or if the motor is cutting power. In any case it doesn't feel like the Auto LSD is doing anything. It feels like the open-diff I had in my Frontier.
