Since the factory USB port sucks at charging I went searching here and online. I didn't want to hack up a blank like most installs on this site were and have yet to see this product mentioned.

9.99 for a dual port charger that looks to fit the smaller blanks under the ac controls. I found them also for the larger blanks to left of steering wheel but being an off road I have no blanks there.

For 9 bucks and free shipping its worth the risk to try. I'll post some pics when I get it. Or of someone else has tried it and it works post up.

i dunno, look at those dimensions and that looks like it would fit in the bigger switch blanks, but not the ones under where say atrac button is.

Either way let us know how it goes!

Same here. I hate blanks and those 2 small ones by atrac button all I got. I use my phone as GPS and plugged in the factory USB just can't keep up. I really hope it works it will be nice to have an always hot plug so I can leave my phone plugged in without truck on.

Definitely tell us how it works out!

And if it doesn't, I'll +1 DoorDing's recommendation for Anker chargers.

Quick question, are the factory USBs hot when you turn the truck off?

Odd, mine charges my iphone6, iPad mini, and handheld GPS unit just fine. What are you trying to charge that it can't handle?

The reason I asked about being hot. For a temporary time I going to have my Dash Cam cable running to it. I just did not want it to continue to drain anything once I shut the truck off.

The USB doesnt charge my Galaxy S5 or my gf's Note 3 very well. It would take forever! I use the cigarette lighter port.

I'd put this in another thread a little while back, but for android at least, you can grab a charge-only cable like these:

    http://www.amazon.com/Mediabridge-Micro-USB-Charging-Cable-Feet/dp/B009W34X1I/

Most android phones detect that they're plugged into a PC and go into a lower-power charge mode. Since the entune unit acts like a PC to let you read media from USB drives, etc, you get stuck in a lower charge mode.

The charge only cable kicks it into "AC" charging mode by connecting the data pins together (one of the many optional standards for telling the device what sort of USB port it's plugged into, fortunately it's pretty consistent).

Try one of those cables - it solved charging for me on a S4 and nexus 6 running in GPS mode with the screen on, no problems.

You can try something like Ampere:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gombosdev.ampere

to display the detailed charge rates on the Android side.

For iphone you're stuck, unfortunately, since the high-power charge signal gets filtered.

I bought a couple of the Scosche plugs pictured above, $20 on an Amazon sale. I have a nice charging cable for my S4 since the USB plug doesn't charge it as fast as navigation uses it. Also added a couple of AC outlets to the back of the console off of the inverter with the anytime 400W mod, some folks have done this with a AC outlet that also has two USB ports which you can get at most home improvement stores for about $20. My iphone users really like the plugs because the can charge faster than they use the battery power.
If those in the original post fit the switch holes on the left of the steering wheel I'd sure like to know, my original intent for the Scosche was to put one of them there in order to charge my phone while in it's RAM mount (see build post below \/ ) but they are a little large.
