Ac drain line causing rust?

Anyone have rust on their frame rail caused by the ac condensate drain line?

 

Nope. AZ FTW!!! rust is basically non existent in the desert.

 

Recently there was a post about this. Ultimately the guy, or girl, located the drain and extended it.

Seemed feasible, I used a plastic 90 degree fitting and short section of tube and now mine is dumping below the frame rail, inside the right wheelwell.

With it not hitting the frame to dissipate, it is quite a bit of water with the humidity here in South Florida.

What is this, pre-emtive worrying? I wouldn't "sweat" it, no pun intended.

Seriously, FWIW, my 2010 has marks on the frame already from the constant water draining onto it.

Probably it's a very good idea to do something about this.

Inexpensive, easy to accomplish, no real performance gain, but does do something to help the truck last.

Yeah maybe just buy some cheap small rubber hose attach it to the end and clamp it to the drain.

Found this thread in the quest of answers given my own "AC drain/rust" situation. My 2013 seems to have developed some surface rust due to this issue. When things cool off, I'll be doing the reroute mod. Dealer couldn't do anything for the drip or areas with rust so once I've got the new tube in and everything's dry, I'll be sanding and spraying down all the trouble spots. This was taken at the passenger side right under the door.

I cut a length of old garden hose and clamped it to the drain spiggot/cock/whatever. While in Moab my friend looked under the truck and said, "Dude you got a effin hose coming out the bottom of your truck!"

Thanks for the input y'all. I went with the 5/8" inner diameter tubing with a hose clamp going straight down. I'm slightly concerned by the added weight on the original tubing so I'll check it frequently. Here are some shots:



It might be necessary for me to put a little spacer between the frame and my new drain tube given that I only asked for a foot. I'll be testing it out in the next few minutes.
