32" BFG KO tires on MT rims, Front lifted 2", N-Fab 12,000lb front pull point w/10,000lb red clevis, mud flap delete, tail pipe delete, 20" LED light bar, 2 Hella 500s, N-Fab light bar mount, tinted windows.
Before you flame me, I have already done an internet and forum search, and have found conflicting and/or confusing information. It might be because I have a 2011 Tacoma, and while still 2nd gen, the 2012s and up apparently are different.

I want to disable them. I also know they are my turn signals, so simply taking the bulb is obviously a no-no. I also notice they go out when my headlights are turned on, so I know there is some sort of circuitry (relay?) that controls them.

On American trucks (at least the last Ford and Chevy I have driven) you can set different parameters like "DRL ON/OFF" or at what speed the doors auto lock...timing of headlights staying on after you exit, ect. by a combination of key switches and/or control buttons to set these features, so the questions are...

Can I permanently turn off my DRLs by any in-cab control?
If no, is there a safe known electrical mod that can disable them?

Of course, it goes without saying, the turn signals need to work on their own.

Any advice/recommendations from someone who has done it, or KNOWS how to do it?

    Thanks!

Im going to add amber fogs, and a brush bar with aux driving lights, and want to have the control/look without them. Just a personal preference kind of thing. I live in the country, so I normally have my headlights on anyway.

You have to switch out your DRL relay for a non DRL relay. I did just the opposite, as I wanted to have DRLS. There is a step by step thread on here on how to do it. Most of the replies on there are people saying how easy it was. IMO, it is not extremely difficult, but it certainly isnt simple. It involves taking apart the dash to the left of the steering wheel. There is a spider web of wires/switch connections in there. I didn't like pulling on and tampering with all those wires. Seemed Very easy to mess something up. I certainly dont want to take that apart again.

Make sure there are no signs of the lens burning and bubbling that happened on my 2010 before disabling.
Toyota will replace both of the headlight assemblys for free.

Do anyone know something about switchback LED replacement bulbs for the DRL. If so what do I have to do to get the white as running lights and Amber for signal. Do I have to change the relay or add a controler? I seen a demo on how they work on a 2011 Tacoma on youtube but No actual instructions on how to wire them up if needed. I hope someone can help me.
