Hello, just got my '15 Taco and I was thinking of doing HID headlights & Fogs. I have had HID's in all my cars and loved it in all of them, but looking back 2 of them already had projectors and one did not, but that car was so low to the ground I couldn't blind anything but animals in the road.

So my question is, could I still do HID's if I correctly aim the housings or is everyone suggesting I do nothing until I could get a retrofit work done? When you do the retrofit, do they use current housings? If so, that wouldn't work for me since my truck is being leased (currently). Are led fogs or headlights an option?

    Thanks guys

Nope. Not the same thing. I don't cruise with the bar on for normal driving. It's only on for maybe a half second at a time if I'm not off road or on a country back road with no traffic.

No, it does not, and you are fooling yourself into thinking otherwise. It has been scientifically proven. It is indisputable fact. 10000k HIDs do not provide better vision under any circumstance. Aiming stock headlights down to reduce glare increases foreground lighting and reduces long range vision. You are no different from Flat Earth Society members or climate change deniers.

You can't correctly aim the housings. The light pattern will be off. It's not so much about the amount of light you produce, as much as it is about putting that light in the right place. Halogen housings (including halogen projector housings) cannot put HID light in the right place. Halogen and HID housings can't put LED light in the right place either. LED housings for LEDs, HID housings for HIDs, halogen housings for halogens. It's that simple.

Thanks for the info. Guess I have to wait if I want better lights

You are still blinding someone with light scatter. Which is the same thing as putting HID's in your Halogens.

You don't have to wait. You can get better lighting than stock by getting Philips X-treme Vision bulbs. I have a pair and they put out better light than stock. They're about $35 a pair, but they don't last quite as long as the stock bulbs. It is a good middle ground while saving up money for a retrofit though.

Alright you win I'm not trying to argue any fact here that anybody produces just simply stating I love my hids the look of them on and off the road I will have retrofits when I can afford them but that's in due time for now I'm stuck with stock housings and will keep hids in till that time comes call me an ass hole but simple fact is I don't care

I've had pnp 6000k hids for a year now and absolutely fucking hate them. They're terrible and anyone who owns a pair oh hids in stock housings on a tacoma and says they like them is a fucking liar. They scatter like hell and send out such a thin and un-aimable light that its just terrible. I finally got my hands on a retrofit kit and am in the process of building them.

But a d2s or fx-r kit off trs. they run sales for tacomaworld members all the time. It'll cost you like $2-300.

I just ordered the mini d2s kit for $267 shipped from the retrofit source. There is a discount code for TW on here, go to venders, the retrofit source and find the code. You can do d2s's easily yourself, its the FXR kit that you have to drill into your head lights that I wouldn't do myself

It's super easier, I wouldn't pay somebody else to do it. There are plenty of write ups, not to mention Andrew and the TRS team can answer any questions. Not to mention the members here that have done it

I've talked to Andrew about retros he's a good guy to deal with for sure didn't ask him any questions as far as me doing it myself just about him doing it with his company and was too pricey for me
