Hey everyone. I'm fairly new to lifts and have been looking around at different lift kits. Ive been looking at Fox and other kits, but have been thinking of Rough County 3in lift. How does everyone feel about this? Does anyone think this will be a good idea for someone that does a majority of street driving, but also goes offroading? is there something else you would recommend for someone on a budget that would like a good lift. Thanks everyone! the link to the product is below.

    Yes sir
It's a "get what you pay for kind of thing." I'd stay away from it personally and save up for something with better quality. That lift isn't much better than a spacer lift (which is bad). For around $1000 you can get a full OME (Old Man Emu) setup; that's front and rear shocks, coils, and dakars or an add-a-leaf for the rear. You'll also want to get new UCA's (Upper control arms) to get a better alignment since your geometry is longer factory geometry. Essentially, new UCA's will improve your alignment numbers and your steering, handling, and tire wear will be a lot better. A more budget conscious approach is to go with bilstein adjustable shocks and eibach coils. Shouldn't run you more than $400 ish but I believe the adjustable shocks top out at giving you around 2.0-2.5 inches of lift if I remember correctly.

Basically, do it right the first time. As someone who had a spacer lift before my current OME setup, don't cheap out. That rough country lift isn't much better than a spacer lift and the company is often considered shitty. That kit uses blocks in the rear as well which won't be comfortable and that entire kit isn't something you want to off road on. My current OME setup is unreal, feels just as good as the stock setup but with much better off road performance. Good luck!

Okay. I did more research and it seems as though RC isnt the best haha. I did happen to go on wheelersoffroad.com and found a couple of full kits. What do yall think?

toytec OME RCD (obviously a lot more expensive)

OME kit in my opinion. You'll also probably want to get new UCA's as I said earlier so factor that into the cost. That RCD kit will just give you headaches; when you go past 3"'s of lift, you get into an entirely new game regarding what you need to do to get the lift to function properly with the truck.

He will need the carrier bearing drop. He won't need the diff drop.

Yea sorry, quick tacomaworld check before work and I'm getting close to being late so I'm trying to be fast haha. CB drop is what you want so you don't get vibes. Diff drop is useless. It's early too...

I have the OME/bilstein bundle kit from headstrong offroad with 887 coils. It's a slightly cheaper option than the full OME kit. I love it! Just another option.

That is another option. Some will tell you 5100's are only supposed to be with Eibach springs and some will tell you they don't. And I believe with the OME rear shocks there is a fitment problem. Double check though.

This is all very helpful. I have changed my mind and leaning towards the OME kit haha. Looking at more videos and there are a surprising amount of block lifts. I cringe now every time I see one :0. is this a bad thing! haha

Essentially: Spacers in the front and blocks in the rear is bad. It's literally just a hunk of metal on top of your suspension rather than let's say the proper length coil to obtain lift or a progressive leaf pack. Anything that seems cheap, probably is for a reason. For example, a rough country lift....

The link that you provided is not for your 2015 Taco. You do not have leaf springs in the front of your truck.

The following link is the kit for your truck:

    http://www.roughcountry.com/toyota-suspension-lift-kit-745n2.html

It's a spacer lift. It is a POS. I know from experience. I had a ReadyLift kit (same shit, different pile on my 2012). The ride was awful. I bit the bullet and went with ICON's front and rear, with an AAL and 1" block. Runs nice.

I would not recommend a spacer lift.

Elaborate? That kit is going to be much more work to install in comparison to an icon setup, OME setup, or bilstein setup

No you can't compare it to the ome, icon etc as it is a different type of kit. But you definitely aren't going to get head aches with this kit, ( as you made in your comment). The rcd kit also uses bilstein shocks front and rear and is one of the better db lifts out.

I'm not saying it isn't good, I'm just saying "headaches" as in it takes more time to install because of added components. Didn't mean to offend or anything, but at the same time I didn't say "RCD lifts are a piece of shit," I was just trying to say they'll take more time to install. I mean, I'm not a huge fan of DB lifts myself, but I'll never say they aren't good quality.

Also, in this case it IS being compared to icon and OME because those are other types of lifts the OP is looking at purchasing. Therefor you NEED to compare the differences in lifts.

Not offended but what u just explained just now is not what you said in your statement earlier posted below.

That RCD kit will just give you headaches; when you go past 3"'s of lift, you get into an entirely new game regarding what you need to do to get the lift to function properly with the truck.
