I cringe a little every time I see someone making the same mistake I did with 5100s...

Not much to do except wait for them to leak, or a shaft to bend, and buy something better. Might consider removing the sway bar too but then again with stock coils maybe not.

Fuck that. Most expensive with most buttons doesn't mean best. Sports hoods and wheels are stupid, OR is not an option for LB, I'm going to replace the suspension anyway. Never needed any extra buttons to make my 01 go wherever I wanted to go anyway. Got what I need and what I want.

My daughter is 8 now and I always bring her and her friend up skiing. They fit fine in the back now.

Will they last any longer since I don't take my truck off-road a lot? It's more of a once in a while thing unless I'm fishing and I see something I want to explore every now and then, nothing bad

Honestly, if I bought a new truck it probably wouldn't be the TRD model. I would give it a new suspension anyway, and air lockers are better than E-lockers anyway. Save the money on the initial cost and add the things you need later on. If I wouldn't want to do those things, than a TRD model would be great for a new truck.

Pretty much my thought process. I'd rather put those funds to good use.

Although, the TRD seats are nice. Aaaaand who's to say you couldn't sell off the TRD goodies to someone else? I don't think I'd be able to buy a new truck. I wouldn't be able to make my mind up! Haha

It's actually my third Toyota, but first brand new. I've been researching it ever since January when I test drove an 04 DC up a steep grade and decided it was the most tragic thing ever. That auto sucks, even with the bed empty and not towing. That pushed me to 2nd gen.

I'm a busy dude, barely have time to keep up with PM, first kid on the way, work is nuts, wife will need a new car shortly, want to do some house remodeling. I have zero time to piss away on wheeling and dealing parts I don't want or need.

I think he's talking about the full LCE kit with rotors, pads, lines and the smaller 199mm calipers. It is overpriced I think. Besides I wanted EBC pads and rotors and powder coated calipers.

LCE also has a kit which includes only the hard lines, mounting brackets, hose clips, and SS braided hoses. I just finished using this kit and it saved me some time and trouble and fits up perfectly. The lines are very well made and have a knurled metal stress relief collar which I haven't seen in any other build. I have pictures and notes about it here...

Anybody been inside the fuse box to replace that white wire coming out of the bottom? Mine is too short and is always a pain.

Anyway I wondered if it is hard to get into.

Squeaky wheels (abuses) :stirthepot: the shit out of his truck, I wouldn't worry about them leaking right away.
It's true, they do leak over time, but it's not a complete self destruct when it happens.
Don't worry about it, go fishing.

Glad to hear you're OK, dude. I've been preoccupied with many other things than TW this year, so I missed it.

It is a begrudged and bittersweet thing. As I drove the 01 back through the winding backroads of Sonoma wine country after signing the papers on the 15, I just keep thinking how much I will miss this truck, miss this 5-speed. I've learned so much on it, and we've had so much fun with it. I would keep them both if I had the space and funds and time. The 15 is nice and has lots of good features. Just not the same. And I'll have to recalibrate my spatial sense of what I can squeeze through to +4.5 inches and be more cautious about high centering.

But someone will get a great 1st gen and it will make them happy. Too bad I have to replace the AF sensor and a CV and get it smogged before I can sell it. Fuck.

Oh, and feel free to come down and buy it. :cookiemonster:

Let me know if you are serious. Quite a drive, but...hard to find a good one these days.

So what are you doing these days? You got a full-time engineering job, right? How's that going?

Good advice from Old Brett. I don't mean to say 5100s are completely worthless, moreso that they are highly over-recommended on this site and do have their issues.

You know bilsteins are a lifetime warranty? If you bought from a reputable shop they can replace them for you.

    Yeah, I realize that.

But you have to consider all the options. Like, you could be enjoying not only my tent taint scent, but also my truck taint scent. Where else can you get that?

Honestly, I hope you get through this situaiton as painlessly as possible.
