I just finished upgrading my 2011 D-Cab to the Bilstein 6112s and 5160s, now I'm looking to upgrade the Exhaust and Intake. I have some money left over from a bonus, and it's burning a hole in my wallet, so I'm making some kind of additional upgrade (I wish it was the SC, but alas, bonus wasn't THAT big). I'm pretty much set on the TRD Cat Back Exhaust, as I like the sound output.

I've read through the forums regarding intake systems, and several say that all they do is add noise. So, is there really no discernible difference in performance/power? Even with tuning?

With that being said: I've narrowed it down to two: do I go with a K&N system or the TRD one?

I welcome discussion whether Pro, or Against. If you can talk me out of it, I thank you :)

I can't say anything about their performance on these trucks, but I personally don't like K&N due to the fact that they let more dirt through than paper filters.

I've played with all kinds of intakes and wasted a shit ton of money doing so. No matter what intake you use, you're not going to gain more than 1-2hp best case scenario, and even that's being generous, but you will for sure sacrifice cleaner air being sucked in to your engine.

I'm a big fan of paper filters. They're cheap and they actually FILTER the air.
