Hi, I am owner/operator of XTP eXtremeTruckPerformance.com Just wanted to get the word out about the upcoming product, Intake Manifold Spacer or most commonly called the IMS for Toyota V6 4.0l engines. This product has proven Dyno results with 100% satisfied customers with the Nissan crowd. I have sold over 210+ of these to very happy truck and SUV owners. XTP specializes in providing the customer with a quality CNC’d part and superb customer support. XTP not only sells products, but runs them on their own personal vehicles. The IMS works on Nissan, Frontiers, Xterras, Pathfinders and Suzuki Equators with 4.0l and very soon will be available for Toyota Tacomas, Tundras, FJ Cruiser with the 4.0 engines for performance and mpg gains.

It will probably be similar if it follows the contours of the intake. Wasnt aware of another one. I did some searching and didnt seem to see anything for Gen 2. All I saw was Gen 1 stuff. I just happened to be selling them to alot of Nissan guys and wanted to spread the power to more people.:D

The sweet spot is from about 2500-4800rpm with lowend power increases, though I think the dyno at the time was having trouble reading down to the 2000rpm range. Significant gains in the lowend, but a gain overall is achieved. I have dynos on my website that were done by a fellow Nissan owner on his truck in Texas, and several, others have done dynos themselves. He is a certified Jaguar mechanic. I should have this made in the next week or so and have one truck here locally to do some dynos. I have not had one bad response to any of the IMS I have sold and have many happy customers.

Well I need to see how the engine/intake is configured but its certainly not out of the question. It is certainly easier if I have things in front of me to work with.

First off, I think it is really cool that you have taken an interest in these motors. Plenty of aftermarket stuff that is performance oriented that has yet to be developed. Including the 2.7L.

I am in no way trying to be impolite, but there is already a manifold spacer on the market. However, competition can be a good thing. :)

These two pictures here, are of the first, and prototype manifold spacer that was made for the 1GR motor. I came with the idea a few years ago to a friend of mine. He is a member on here as well, and goes by Coupe. He is an engineer. I told him what I had in mind. Specs and all. This was the product of that.

Due to my close relationship with NST (Non Stop Tuning.com), we worked a deal, and they have been selling them.

    http://www.xr-underground.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39808 <<<<<< DYNO Graph.

If there is any doubt about anything I have mentioned, feel free to call NST or PM Coupe. It can be validated.

Now, for the OP. If you can further improve upon the original, then you have a good product, and i say go for it. As well as for the 2.7L crowd. I know that there is no one making a spacer for them.

Horsepower ain't cheap. How much does a cold air intake net with the 1gr?

8-12whp for about $350. Not unreasonable with that perspective.

Peak power 8HP is up high in the rpm at 5600, its 32 hp 23 torque in the lowend 2500-4800.

I started making these about a year and half ago. I was laid off in 08' and worked for a civil Engineering company. People were wanting these so I started making them. Dont want to tick anyone off, just thought I'd throw it out there, as I had not seen them available for Toyota. I have one in the works, will be doing dynos and if people want them will make them. If they suck and dont make power I wont produce them. I dont do things I dont believe in,and I dont sell snake oil. They are proven on the Nissan engine with 110+ of mine in hapy people's trucks, the Toyota is not much different in design so it should work fine.

I will most likely go the route of a flat paper style gasket and not do channels and rubber O-rings. In this picture you can see what can happen to Oring style gaskets if not properly machined as in the case of a guy who made Nissan IMS about 5 years ago.

By all means man. Go for it.

Doesn't hurt my feelings one bit. Easy power to be gained there.

And like I said, you would be the first for sure to bring to market the spacer for the 2.7L as well.

Only one way to know how well it works. Build it and test it.

    Lots.
I was looking at buying the NST spacer last month. Still in the market. Depending on when it will be ready and if you are looking for a guinea pig, I'd be happy to work with you.

I'd need a blue one though of course...

Horsepower that makes actual gains yes, such as my vette I roadrace. Likewise during any tests climatic data should be listed, as well as vehicles running temp, ( short term fuel trims vs long term fuel trims). The other thing is tuning, or lack therein.
And we are going down the HP gains CAI path......rofl.

So am I to assume that the 1gr that was tested used the round port plate?

In the dyno chart you show on XRU, the 2 runs have much different humidity, with the run showing the gains having 81%, while the first run is 90%. Dont you think this gain shown could have been from the resulting drop in humidity? The more humidity, the less O2 in the air, thus less power.....

Saw that, was wondering the same thing, but didn't know how much humidity would have effected actual WHP numbers...

In my limited experiance, I found it can have a decent role in the results. A few times, I have thought things shown a gain, or a loss, only to find an inverted result testing on a different day, with different humidity conditions.
